Anyone notice that Melbourne were 'tackling' their opponents 3 times before releasing? The initial hit followed by a wrestle involving at least 2 defenders and finished with a borderline wrestle on the floor. Pushing the rules to the absolute limit it would seem. Leeds' ruck work was done on the move and was far less obvious.

just to clear up a couple of things kmank2. NRL & SL play the same season, both start feb/march & both have grand final mid october. In 1994 brisbane hosted & got beaten by wigan. There are only two pro RL competitions in the world, we need them both to keep going so the game doesnt turn into Aussie rules or baseballs "world series" . RL is a cool game with only a small following, support them both whether they play in 40 or 4 degrees C. Its the toughest ball game in the world.

By the way I'm a St George Illawarra Dragons fan, so of all people I have no incentive to be bias in favour of the Melbourne Storm. I'm glad in fact that Leeds beat the bastards. However when it comes to an explanation of why Australian teams are so consistently beaten; well as said above its pretty obvious.

Of course Leeds won, the World Club Challenge is designed for the English team to win. The last Aussie team to win was the Sydney Roosters who beat St Helens 38-0 if I recall correctly. Does that mean English Rugby League is better than Australian Rugby League??? You're joking. Its played on your ground during your season in shocking pommy weather with the Australian team not having played for the better part of 5 months. Its not an excuse, its a fact. Sometimes when you loose hold your hands up and say we lost no arguements about who we was missing and the weather. I love Rugby league watch both SL and NRL every week. Leeds win when it matters, Peacock, Sinfield, McGuire,Burrow,Webb,Jones Buchanan and Ellis are Top notch Players!

we had some players out, we lost toopi (even though nobody rates him) half way through the game and we still won, looking forward to the next one, manly will propably have all thier players and wil be a test for us, but if we beat manly, then the excuses will fly in, just like all the nrl teams that lose, the fans have to have a moan

I notice, Melbourne kept trying to get us on th back foot by stoping the quick play of the ball with tackling to get us on our backs. But when Leeds starting putting the big his on and using same tactics Leeds started to push melbourne back and it affectively changed the game.
