At this point, Noah has been out of the closet for like 3 months (and gone through a lot of tragedy). Luke has been out for amost 2 years. Of course Luke will be more comfortable. It takes time for people to adjust to being out (particularly with such horrible things happening and when you are as reserved as Noah is). Noah isn't ashamed, he's just new to being out

I understand Luke wants to be acknowledged but Luke is a tiny bit too insecure here. Noah's actions show his devotion to Luke.

And most people don't come out and have their father go nuts and kill their mother, try to kill their boyfriend and assault 3 other people all in the same week. Noah's only 19, he's been hiding his feelings about guys his entire adolescence. He can't be expected to jump out the closet singing "I am what I am" right away. If you watch Luke's coming out story, it took a year to be comfortable.
