@MissLilPopstar this is a behavior that is taught for show dogs. A simpler, modified version may be nice for vet visits, grooming visits and so that you can easily check out your own dog, (my vet loves that my dogs will just stand for him for exams:) but really it is so show dogs can be examined in the ring.
AXxDaPinkTacoxX, thanks I know. I have been working with dogs professionally for 30 years, so I know cheese is fine, it is just frustrating when people who don't know anything post on other peoples pages. So annoying.
@Burmiya Yes, I am using cheese in training which is totally fine and okay for the dog. Ugh, why do people who not know anything insist on posting on other people's pages.
@BraveheartDogs Actually it is - I showed dogs in "confirmation classes" for several years but it seems that the word conformation is used as well to describe the same showing discipline in some jurisdictions...we're both right.
@FeastTV Actually, it's NOT. As I said before, the term is "conformation" when relating to showing dogs. Whoever called them "confirmation classes" was mistaken. And, please don't come to MY you tube videos to start an argument.
@poggrabonoman Why would it matter if it wasn't weaned yet? She's merely training and studying the conformation. I think it's a great puppy. I've seen people stack their pups at 2 weeks for crying out loud.
@poggrabonoman "this woman" is a professional dog trainer, behavior specialist and author. There is no reason why training can't start on puppies that are not completely weaned. In fact, we start A LOT of the training prior to the puppies being weaned. These puppies went to their new homes between 8 and 9 weeks old and all had been trained to stack on a table. The puppies learned the behavior in a fun and positive way and the new owners were thrilled.
My dachsunds go crazy for cheese. Cocoa is a: Long haired, brown, tan(Mostly calm 90% of the time), Maggie:red, brown, she is mostly hyper her front paws go up.
Sugar is; Blond and she is the baby of Cocoa(DAD), Maggies the Mommy:)
whats the benefit of stacking? i have a 2 yr old dachschund and i never tried this on him before.

@FeastTV the word is "conformation" in that dogs are judged on how well they "conform" to the breed standard. It isn't "confirmation".
