I'd just take it back to the shop and get a new one, sounds like the hard drive is faulty :) It shouldn't make a rattling sound, usually a sign the hard drive is no good :)

you can also add songs from cd,sometimes itunes doesnt recognize album covers,so you have to put them by hand.and it also sometimes doesnt recognize tracks as part of a album,you have to change the trackinfo in itunes to put them into one album.you´ve to have your music on the pc HD all the time,otherwise you´re music will be deleted from your ipod.because you synchronize your music from pc with your ipod.

They are fine :D It had a few crashing issues way back when it was released but after 5 or so updates all the problems are gone :)

That could be normal, the hard drive spins when its being read, makes a quiet whirring sound :)

If its a really nasty scraping sound id take it back just in case could be a bad hard drive :)

ok anyone stuck between this and a touch id say get this the touch wifi internet is totally useless unless you in a area with a strong connection its pretty much useless out and about for its internet the sound quaility is acceptable at best the battery life isnt that great either a lot of updates so its fun to have for new games etc. but for music and video cant go wrong with this.

If you want the internet, mail, youtube etc. and soon the app store (download games from the iTunes store like super monkey ball) go with the touch :D

If i was to buy one now, it would be the touch :D

Alrite mate, just a noobish question: If I have added music and videos to the ipod via itunes on my PC and then deleted the music and vids off the PC, can i still add more songs and videos but keeping the music and vids i added to the ipod without deleting them off the ipod? I know I can manually add media but if I do this will I still keep the deleted media on the ipod?

I think if you manually manage the music the songs on the iPod will stay there :)

But if i were you, keep them on your computer aswell as you can't take em' back off the iPod later and could lose your music :D

there are third-party (non-Apple/unofficial) programs you can download that let's you rip the music and videos from your iPod onto your PC however so if you ever happen to lose all your music on your PC or whatever then you can get one of those.

i got the 160 gb version, after connecting it when it didn have any data on, instead of 1860gb it had 148gb. Cause there was all of the system files. Nice review, you should have mentioned that though.

That happens with all storage things like hard drives, and flash drives. It's to do with formatting i think :)

Right, iTunes is limited and won't let you copy the songs off the iPod. So you have to use a little app called "EphPod", it lets you oopy the music off the iPod and onto your computer :)

Google "ephpod" and click the first link :D

From my experience its just as loud as any other iPod :) Seriously, if people think the max volume is too quiet they have it on WAY too loud lol

Sound quality is excellent in my opinion, i know big audiophiles prefer MP3 players from the big audio brands like Cowon and such :)

To get a DVD on the iPod it has to be ripped (like taking a music CD)to the computer.

Handbrake is a great application or doing this, it will copy the DVD into an iPod compatible video file.

DVD's have copy-protection that prevent you from doing this so you will have to install something like DVD43 or AnyDVD to remove the copy-protection.

Google "dvd on ipod" and youwill find tons of great guides for doing it :)

Hey this video was pretty handy, I am tempted to get myself an iPod Classic. I don't really know what is holding me back! Nah out of all the iPods the Classic is the best value, and pretty rock solid :)

Yeah they scratch, but get a nice case to go with it and you're good to go :D If it's faulty apple are very good with customers, they will replace it for you no problem :) But you're not likely to have any problems :D

In June apple will open the app store for the iPhone and iPod Touch so they will get tons of downloadable apps like aol messenger, and super monkey ball :) The iPod touch looks like it's gonna have a great future lots of stuff to be done with it.

On the other hand the iPod classic is rock solid and cheap - all the iPod touches features come at a price. The classic is solid. it can withstand a bit of a beating, whereas the touch is a slab of glass - it costs around £120 to fix.

It really comes down to weather you want a device that i much more than just an mp3 player, or an mp3 player that does the job very well.

I might be considering an iPod touch as apple will be providing downloads like aol messenger etc. I can't resist those features :D

You can choose to manually sync the iPod, this will allow you to pick whats on it with drag-and-drop ease :)
