all the dell pcs i put ubuntu on doesnt let you put special effects or screensavers on it and the only way to be able to do anything is to use failsafe gnome so i vow never to get a dell pc ever again (i've yet to try their laptops)
i have a studio 1537 and i can not find a driver for the 1501 n wireless card for my laptop do you have a link to were i could get it or is their some thing else i would really appreciate your help.
Why was it customized in the first place, no offence but in my opinion it was better the original way but thats just me since ive been using ubuntu since the first one that came out a few years ago i think it was 6.04, is their any way to remove the dock bar with web, entertainment ect? if their is then it would be great.
OK, I wanted to put Ubuntu on my old IBM laptop iSeries but it looks very different with the picture of a bird of some kind, how do i get the one they are showing in the video with the transparent tape ?? they should be more clear for newbies and laypeople like me
The Ubuntu shown in this video is Dell's custom version of Ubuntu. As far as I know, the only way to get it is to buy a Dell Mini 9 or Mini 10. You can customize the normal Ubuntu though (which is what you installed) just google 'Ubuntu forums' and you can ask questions there about pretty much anything! I remember it was a big help when I was new to linux. Happy ubuntu-ing!
not at all or in fact easier than in windows as most free ware is available by typing one line of text or three clicks. But if you need windows software virtual box and win xp installed on a virtual machine gives you a working windows without most of the problems.
Thinking of buying one and installing ubuntu 10.10 and also hoping that there's no issues out of the box if i do install ubuntu

sexyslimgoody1779 2 years ago
@sexyslimgoody1779
for shure you can play runescape! but to play wow you would have to turn down the graphics
toddha684 2 years ago
@sexyslimgoody1779 world of warcraft probably if you play with low settings you might lag alittle, runescape for sure.

Hardy is an LTS. LTS releases don't upgrade by default until another LTS release is available. Check the Ubuntu website for instructions.

@Thesupermadman New Ubuntu 10.04 is LTS!!!!
awesomenessguess11 2 years ago
You can update it, actually.
It isn't entirely efficient to do so at the moment, but it's hardly impossible.
JohnnyJohnnyJohnny 2 years ago
@T3knopath Yes my friend, only add the repositories in the synaptic or apt.

Yeah, just make sure you have the proper wireless drivers. Wired should work right out of the box.

where can I get this distribution?
I uninstalled the version trying to upgrade it. It didn't work out very well and I need to go back to this version.
Does anyone in here have a download link?

I'm thinking about getting one of these dell mini laptops for school. I've used Linux (many distros) as my only OS for 3 years now.
