Really, this is not true, they don't let the whales rotten, they killed in the old days when there was not much food , and kept it as a tradition. but they NEVER let it go to waste and do not let the whale suffer, they kill it in less than 2 sec so the whale won't feel any pain!. but yes I myself think they should maybe kill less even tho they don't kill so much and let much slip. There is proof that the demand for whale meat has dropped considerably all over the world, most probably due to pressure of international governments and environmental groups. Even so, that doesn't mean the whalers will minimize their whaling efforts. This over-whaling inevitably leads to rotting whale corpses on the floors of fishing docks around the world, oh and of course, and the extinction of more and more whale species.

The Blue Whale has nothing to do with this. We only hunt Pilot Whales and only those that are seen by a coincident. There are more than a million pilot whales, they have never been more than that, we have killed about 1000 of the them each year the last 900 years without any change in the stock.

And as far as I'm informed. Organisations like Green Peace accept these hunting traditions because of the small number of whales being hunted. And the fact that every bit of meat is eaten by the population on the Faroe Islands. It's not a commercial business and the Pilot whale population is so large that it is at threat to other species in the sea. A Pilot whale eats tons of fish every month.
