  • Why not make the z height plate built into the base of center finder? Use a pin like you have been doing, but don't make it protrude through the base into the copper pipe. Then you can center your hole, and z touch off all in one tool, instead of switching. :)

  • @diyengineer You can absolutely do that....In fact, I mention just that, by saying you can measure the height of the entire probe, then simply touch at the top of the copper pipe...

  • This was very informative to me as i am a newbee to cnc routing. Thank you fro the help. I was wondering how to center my machine... Where do you connect the other end of the probes? I may have missed that part.

  • @musicmaneman1 The other end of the probe connects to my CNC controller's break out board. I use a pin on the breakout port which is not being used for control, and then I simply map that pin in mach3. When the pin goes high, mach3 detects it, and acts accordingly, like in my video.
