Last year I lost all my hair and eyebrows. Now the eye lashes are going as well including all of my body hair.My skin feels like that of a baby.And I am a 47 year old man! I had small bold patches every now and then since my 18th year,but now it is a total attack. In my case I am sure it is caused by a burn out and a depression. Now it's going better, we''ll see if my mood change has a positive effect on my Alopecia. All the best.
I suggest using pure peppermint oil, pure tea tree oil and pure eucalyptus oil rubed on your scalp once every other night, add pure MSM IN YOUR DIET, I made a mixture with it to leave directly on my hair for a few hours or over night or you can digest it i do both, i perfer the organic plant driven MSM so I know its safe, I stop the harsh chemicals on my head and stop using stuff with sulfate in it, only when I detox my hair once every other month if I have too, less shampooing more conditioning
use conditioner with protien and moisture, i use narobi for slowing down breakage or find a conditioner with Hyaluronic Acid aka sodium hyaluronate for super moisturizing the scalp and hair, when my hair started to grow back I added pure jojoba oil to the ends of the hair that was, from the hair that grew I was able to retain by not messing with my hair unnecceraly. my hair is much fuller and longer after all fell off.
I've had alopecia since 1990 when I was in the seventh grade and still have it today and I am 32 years old. I often get it in the very back of my head usually, but rarely in the front of my head or on top. I've received hundreds and hundreds of needles to clear up my bald spots over the last two decades. As I have gotten older, I only get maybe one or two spots a year usually when I am going through a stressful time. I hope this might be useful for someone who is going through this? Best wishes!

I was diagnosed with this when I was 3 and I dont grown hair anywhere on my body except I have a little bit of hair left on the front of my head.I have no eye lashes, no eyebrows and very little hair on my head. Don't forget you are not alone. Search "baby let your hair hang down". Georgia is an amazing woman. They are almost ready to release the film. Warning: Dermatologists are a joke. I was kept on acne medication for years and told by my doctor that diet had no connection to my acne. To this day the dermatological studies claim diet and acne are not related. After years of frustration and social embarrassment I changed my diet drastically. In 30 days I cured my acne, stopped all medications and never went back to that quack. They don't want us to be cured, they want us to have to keep coming back. Diet is key! Good luck.

i am a 15 year old girl about to do my GCSE's and a couple of months ago noticed i have patches on my head and about a month ago found out it was alopecia areata, i cant cut stress out of my life but if anyone knows of anyways to subtly cover bald patches that would be really great
i know when i was losing my hair i was devastated and I'm male, it must be really difficult for a female. My hair did grow back to pretty much a full head of hair and 10 years later is still all there. For you guys who are still in their 20's and 30's, try 1mg of propecia a day, 1 hair/skin/nails tablet a day and rub rogaine into your balding patches at night before going to bed. In 6months you'll see results

You get this when you have to much Stress in your Life, boil down the Stress, and your Hair will be back. I know it, cuz i had Alopecia areata also in 2006, and my Hair is back. Just cut out everything in your Life that cause to much Stress and it will be better, you see.

You should try hair implants! They remove some healthy hairs from the back and re-place them in the front. The before and after pictures are impressive. I'm considering doing that because i got alopecia too. But it's so expensive <_< So I'm still trying to decide...
I'm a woman & my hair began falling out also. I shaved off what was left of my hair too. Some of my hair grew back in with what you & I both call 'baby hair'. I know what you are going through. This story is an inspiration to me. My story with this is a little different. I was diagnosed with trichtillomania, an impulse- control condition where one has an obsessive urge to pull out their own hair. Good for you to shave it off! Power to ya, sis!
My condolences to you!! I don't know what to say. I know it will be tough, and people aren't going to like you because it's human nature to love beauty and hate ugliness, so I know you feel excrusiating with you hair loss. Seek help, and just be good, just try to hang in there. Just ask someone if they would be your friend, I'm sure there are some wonderful ladies that would like you for who you are. You know, even though finding a man is not going to happen, maybe some ladies will like you!
I had a friend in high school who also had alopecia, and eventually she took that step and shaved it all off. It actually suited her, like it seems to work just fine for you. There are other beautiful features in people than hair, and I think it brings those features out to be appreciated more anyway. :) You have beautiful eyes and those high cheekbones to be envied, gosh! I choose to wear a wig 1. because I LOVE being a woman; I love fixing my hair.2. When you see a woman that is bald most people automatically assumes she has cancer. I DO NOT want anyone to feel sorry for me. My hair does not define my soul and spirit. For those who are in the beginning stages of alocpecia, yeah it sucks but you will get through it. No matter if you choose to the all natural look or if you choose to wear the wigs and make up. I draw my eyebrows on everyday and wear eyelashes.
I just wanted to leave a comment, I also have alopecia. I found my first spot when I was 17 and the hair did grow back. 10/2006 I noticed a small bald spot on the top of my head. I went to my dermatologist and he started me on cortisone injections; which induced the hairloss. 05/2005 all my hair fell out. @livelovebeauty22 - Alopecia Areata differs so much from one person to another that there's simply no way of telling how long it'll take. My mum had the condition, and it took three weeks for her to loose all her hair - I got it six months after, and nine months on I'm still loosing mine! People deal with it differently too - some prefer to go bald and proud, others like to wear wig (Me! :D), so your friend may be finding it easier to cope with by wearing a wig. Helped me! God has blessed you with BEAUTIFUL EYES.. so I recommend that you go to hair simulation to get a hair line ect to frame your beautiful face.. I'm blessed with beautiful eyes too. I shaved my hair about 5 days ago because my hair line is distorted. I planned to get my hair line restored by the hair simulation process..

Don't forget you are not alone. Search "baby let your hair hang down". Georgia is an amazing woman. They are almost ready to release the film. They just need some more money to finish the distribution deals. If you want to help with the film please think of giving just a few bucks. One less latte from a lot of people and the film is in wide release. Alopecia need not be hidden and shameful. Georgia helps people (especially kids) deal with the disease and understand the problems.

i know when i was losing my hair i was devastated and I'm male, it must be really difficult for a female. My hair did grow back to pretty much a full head of hair and 10 years later is still all there. For you guys who are still in their 20's and 30's, try 1mg of propecia a day, 1 hair/skin/nails tablet a day and rub rogaine into your balding patches at night before going to bed. In 6months you'll see results

You should try hair implants! They remove some healthy hairs from the back and re-place them in the front. The before and after pictures are impressive. I'm considering doing that because i got alopecia too. But it's so expensive <_< So I'm still trying to decide...

I'm a woman & my hair began falling out also. I shaved off what was left of my hair too. Some of my hair grew back in with what you & I both call 'baby hair'. I know what you are going through. This was over a year ago for me. I didn't wear a scarf or hat except in winter & that was only when outside. You are a very beautiful woman. My hair is coming back more and yours may also. I had a friend in high school who also had alopecia, and eventually she took that step and shaved it all off. It actually suited her, like it seems to work just fine for you. There are other beautiful features in people than hair, and I think it brings those features out to be appreciated more anyway. :) You have beautiful eyes and those high cheekbones to be envied, gosh! I choose to wear a wig 1. because I LOVE being a woman; I love fixing my hair.2. When you see a woman that is bald most people automatically assumes she has cancer. I DO NOT want anyone to feel sorry for me. My hair does not define my soul and spirit. For those who are in the beginning stages of alocpecia, yeah it sucks but you will get through it. No matter if you choose to the all natural look or if you choose to wear the wigs and make up. I draw my eyebrows on everyday and wear eyelashes.

I just wanted to leave a comment, I also have alopecia. I found my first spot when I was 17 and the hair did grow back. 10/2006 I noticed a small bald spot on the top of my head. I went to my dermatologist and he started me on cortisone injections; which induced the hairloss. 05/2005 all my hair fell out. @livelovebeauty22 - Alopecia Areata differs so much from one person to another that there's simply no way of telling how long it'll take. My mum had the condition, and it took three weeks for her to loose all her hair - I got it six months after, and nine months on I'm still loosing mine! People deal with it differently too - some prefer to go bald and proud, others like to wear wig (Me! :D), so your friend may be finding it easier to cope with by wearing a wig. Helped me!
