  • As a Taekwondo-ist, I've often noticed that open hand blocks are quicker and seemingly more effective when sparring. Taekwondo hard blocks have other applications, but open handed blocks feel better to me. My instructor takes this a step further, saying that blocking with the fingers pointed is actually stronger because it "recruits more muscles". As a kinesiology major, I'm fascinated by this possibility, but I'm a bit skeptical (how much is placebo?). Any ideas on how to verify his claims? thx

  • P.S.-My tkd instructor has taken WC, and snake and a little crane. Hence his knowledge. I really would like to know how we, as scientific martial artists, can verify the recruitment theory..

  • Hi bro, just filmed the staff, but have misplaced me lead for pc ha ha, the staff is just a little so i'll do more when im a little better. Plus I just blended tiger, crane, mantis and leopard, drunken togeter like you do. The body just guides itsself. Also I havent forgot the Kata or my Eagle's claw. Been practicing 3 finger, i arm press ups for that.

  • Great news to hear about the staff, listen do keep it up and I hope you find the lead. Yeah, great I love mixing all of the styles together! It feels great when you naturally flow into the control of your own power and skills! First though it's about excercising to be fit enough! Great bro thanks
