This is pathetic. Last night, the Pens had 12,000 fans sitting outside the arena to watch the game on a big screen. They had to shut down 2 streets so fans could sit there. You guys call yourselves Hockeytown, HA!
Don't even talk, we go to the games when our teams are bad, just look at the 70's and early 80's... WE WERE GOD AWFUL, and we sold out almost every game. The Penguins were going to sell the Franchise because it got so bad, we deserve the title.
we were selling the franchise because we spent too much money in the early 90's and we ran out of money to support the team. we still had one of the best attendance records in the late 90's early 2000's. the fans had nothing to do with it. even Lemieux said that when he said he was going to sell the team it was an empty promise, just to threaten the city/
Funny you say that, because people in Detroit still go downtown to watch the game regardless if they are home or not. Not to mention, it's loud no matter the situation...the Pens crowd is boring and dull, only cheering when they are winning.
How many Cups do we have? How many Cups do you have? Exactly. Detroit is Hockeytown. And really, 12,000 huh?? Did you count everyone to come up with that number? Look, you guys won last year, that's the fact. But this is a new year..and you're the team everyone's gunning for.
You should check when they sing Don't Stop Believing. The guys controlling the music stop it at Born and raised in South Detroit, and the crowd just screams it.
Do they still do JOEvision? I heard NBC did some copyright thing and didn't let them show the 2009 finals.
