Ok I bought a couple of hula hoops since the last time I posted here, but I'm wondering about the weight of the ones you use. Mine are really light... I'm thinking maybe I need some heavier ones? It's hard to control the light ones.

Okay so of course i am not as good as her but i know enough about hooping! :) THe average size for a hula hoop (adult) is 3/4 160 psi polytubing! Okay if this seems a little hard for you put some tape on it and it will be a lot easier because of the friction from the tape! if you haven't heard of safire go to her hooping place on youtube... type in fire sandra or safire and i am sure you will find her :) Good luck!
Oh lord--so sorry I missed your question! What LilMissRandom says is true--you need large & heavy hoops with gaffers tape on them (which will give you traction) when you start hooping. You then can gradually make your hoops smaller and lighter as you build skill--the little ones go faster and you can work on speed after you are solid in your core skills. You def. don't want to start with a Walmart hoop, but with an adult-sized hoop. How is it going?
