In my opinion, T.O. was a hard worker and wanted to win, but I do recall him giving up on some routes and not using his body to screen the defenders from interceptions. Two players that I would build this team around are DWare & JWit. They are future Hall of Famers and their work ethic, leadership, & desire to win and willingness play with injuries are the examplest for a new 2009 cowboy team philosophy! Team First!

The offensive line needs replacing, we need some help on the defense and a brand new QB w/a a great back up, who will take over if the reg QB starts slackin. On one hand, T.O. is out of control sometimes and hes got the hugest ego Ive ever seen. On the other hand, our Saints have Shockey, and this guy has also gotten a bad rap for wanting to give 100% and getting pissed off when other teammates dont want to perform. Brees got in his face and let him know whats up, so he knows who the leader is on the team. My point is that maybe Romo isnt a good leader as you hinted at. Brees took Shockey and forced respect. I dont think Romo did that to T.O.

I enjoyed your perspective and I agree with many of your points. In my opinion, T.O. was a hard worker and wanted to win, but I do recall him giving up on some routes and not using his body to screen the defenders from interceptions. Two players that I would build this team around are DWare & JWit. They are future Hall of Famers and their work ethic, leadership, & desire to win and willingness play with injuries are the examplest for a new 2009 cowboy team philosophy! Team First!

Well the way I look at it is this... T.O. is gonna chew us up and spit us out. He's gonna put up big numbers for the Bills,prove all the potential buyers wrong!, make Lee Evans and Trent Edwards look great . The offensive line needs replacing, we need some help on the defense and a brand new QB w/a a great back up, who will take over if the reg QB starts slackin. He couldnt do it in pass coverage it aint like he just had one off year it was more like 3 in a row there. Then making excuses about it being the wrong scheme. Id be seriously shocked if he got a starting job anywhere. Good riddance.

ESPN and most of the other so called NFL analist LOVETO because he gives them something to talk about. He's has be a great team player and made Dallas better. Weak coaching and coaches, sorry play calling isour problem. In every interview with any player in the NFL every one of them tries to lead them into saying something about TO and always ina negative way. ESPN blows goat nuts.

all i have too say as a eagles fan is im shocked that the cowboys relase him but i don't think his attitude in was the problem the was a undispline team in the first place roy williams is gone so thats a big hole in the defense
So wheather you like it or not TO was the cowboys best reciver regradless of his attitude in thee end it almost impossible too fill that hole as a eagle fan i would get him here because we need recivers desperately.

Now, Jerry says it was a strategic decision. He said that he should go on the top of TO's reference list for future employment.
Well...it didn't end bad. He also said that the sometimes disruptive behavior and outspoken nature of Owens was not a factor in the release.
Hmmmm.......sounds like he caved to someone. When you can't back your own moves I don't know what to think.

another thing is that some people seem to forget some of the real reasons that the cowboys struggled last year. Turnovers, penalties, and ball control.... Owens wasnt responsible for all of those things. Those are the basics of football, and the whole cowboy organization failed last year. jason garrett needs to respond this year, cause he still has a stacked offense.

im torn on the issue, but i think i would prefer to have owens. one of the positives that i can see is that now romo wont be trying to force the ball into owens sometimes. there is still a lot of talent on the offense and there is only one ball. The three RBs, roy williams, miles austin, witten, and bennett. The bottom line is that Romo just needs to step up. We have the weapons even without owens.

my thing is, think about this, what was Cowboys record and even "SB chances before Owens?" While I don't like the drama or choas, I do respect that Owens brought HUGE talent to the WR position, but without him - EXPECT to see struggle on passing situation, no more double coverage, i mean seriously, is ROY W going to need lol two people to cover him? He was a huge threat on the field, I don't like this move but i do have to move on with the team. GO COWBOYS!

i agree that T.O. got a bad rap from being passionate about winning. People gave the man gruff for getting upset about losing...If my team was losing, and i felt like I wasnt being used to my full potential, or I wasnt being used in a way to help us win, I would be pissed off too. Im not happy they cut him, i think we only had 3 guys on the team last year that "acted" like they wanted to win. EVERY GAME! Terrell Owens, Jason Witten, Demarcus Ware.

We see all those highlights of TO yelling on the sidelines and remember them. The one where he was yelling at Andre to say something to the offensive line or he will...and we all went "Yeah"! When he was open in the Pittsburgh game but Romo found and open Polamalu for the TD. How could you NOT be frustrated. They're being shown as disruptive now and we all knew that was not the case.

Thats what a leader does. Unfortunately for us, Wade Phillips is a very leadable follower, and Terrell Owens is not. T.O. is a committed to win individual, but Romo dont like him, and wasnt throwing to him. Someone had to go.

Lizzy...you just proved my point! There was no obvious leadership anywhere (Romo,Wade,TO,Jerry). The decisions that come out of Dallas are as random as it gets. If there were some sort of plan or philosophy like the one Bill Parcells had going on...I'll buy into it. I'm not buying into isolated decisions anymore...they all turn out bad. Getting TO in the first place was one of them. It went against everything Parcells was doing at the time. Us fans were happy, but what the hell do we know

Yeah, the "Romo-friendly Offense" is pretty stupid. But I do believe that TO would always keep Romo from being the leader the QUARTERBACK HAS TO BE!!!
McNabb tried to tell TO to "shut up" about being open in the huddle and TO said that's when they started having issues. How can Romo be an effective leader when he's got to be careful with his words?
About running the ball with Parcells. Umm we didn't have Felix or Choice back then. If Bill had those 2 guys then his system would have worked.

T.O. is not the greatest player but, as far as skill goes he is a great player. In the top ten of all-time (stats. wise). The Media, including the Sports Media, love contraversy cause, after all is said and done, it means more money. Informing the public of important news is what the media should be reporting.

T.O. was a great player, and I'm pretty mad.
But I would be even madder if they hadn't thought this through more, at least we have somewhat of a guy to follow in T.O's footsteps in Roy E Williams. It's a stretch, but I think once he builds some chemistry with Tony he can be really productive.
Regardless, T.O. shouldn't have gone. Especially after inking a new deal last season.

Steeler fan here... FYI Owens also wide open behind the steeler defense on that last pic 6 Romo threw at the end of that game. If you read his lips when he was ranting on the sideline he was saying " i was wide open".
