  • SO that is how the U.S won the war in the Pacific... Magic Cows..

  • This game kicked my ass...and it was awesome

  • the Japanese version sucks because EVERYTHING YOU DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW WAS IN ENGLISH AND WHAT YOU NEEDED TO KNOW WAS IN JAPANESE

  • 6:04 Who can see the bacgrounds for all the enemies and bullets?

  • Which is the best fired power for this game? Laser?

  • classic game, still play this game when i have the chance and still own the NES cart. but damn i hate that low energy music that came on during the battle, so nerve racking

  • Is it me, or does Mark just seem blah in this particular review?

  • i used to LOVE this game played for hours as a young one hah

  • You sir have an awesome voice. XD

  • Wow. A 1988 vertical shooter with RPG elements. That's rad! Oh and I'm pretty sure this video's intro is Lord Karnage approved.

  • 2:52 reminds me of a piece of a battle ship game

  • I have it on the pacman plus machine

  • Love the 1984 reference.

  • GOOD TIMES!

  • Wow 0:37, nice FMV on the NES!

  • they probably made the game ridiculous and unrealistic, and didnt mention the countries involved so as not to offend anybody

  • wow, awesome digitized speach and video in this NES game!!!! who knew the NES was so powerful!!??

  • I have an arcade machine with 52 old school games like 1942 and 1943. Also, mark's favorite MS. PAC MAN.

  • that sound s awuful.

  • 1984: The Game.

Now there's a concept to develop upon!

  • The arcade is better

  • @anthonywastrinh what's your point? for years the arcade versions were always superior to the home version but the thing that matter was how close the home version comes to the arcade version given the limitations to the home system it's on. And honestly this is a excellent port of the arcade version and that is all that matters.

  • We need a national holiday to commemorate all the mindless drones that lost their lives in fictional battles for our entertainment

  • This is the best shooter for the NES bar none. I consider Contra more of an action/shooter hybrid. The only thing that held this game back was the fact that it was a one player game. Guevara is good too, but the music, weapon upgrades, bosses, and graphics of 1943 were amazing for its time.

  • i already havea mulet and im 14

  • I always have and always will hate the low fuel song. It's like the constant beeping when you're low on health in a Zelda game- loud and obnoxious.

  • i like the music in this game. it has nothing on sky shark bit its good.

  • wait, im not really sure what to do in this game, can some one help?

  • @mrpotatohead34 r u playing the japanese version where everything is in japanese

  • Capcom used to be great at vertical shooters, like on this one. In the late 90's and early 2000's they started making vertical shooters that were quarter eaters and even the home versions were impossible to play without dying a million times even on the easiest seeting. I enjoy games that where if you have skill you can play the game through. The whole screen littered with enemy fire is not fun. I wish capcom would make the shooters more like they used to. Like the people that make Raiden.

  • LRN 2 graze danmaku, you nub.

  • @kdj29 capcom hasn't been interested in their old franches being done classic style. (grin handled bionic commando rearmed.) they made a remake of 1943 for PSN/Live arcade but it was made by backbone.

  • Not that it matters, but had to give you a 1/5 for bashing the music. The first stage's theme is one of Capcom's classics.

  • On the arcade version of this game, there were two more pieces of BGM: one for the air battle and the other for the sea battle.

  • The music actually reminds me a bit of Mike Tyson's Punch Out!

  • The Battle of Midway was in 1942, not 1943!!!

  • Yea... he said that like 6 times...

  • @SpunkOnSchoolUniform rofl they need more titles :P

  • 1943 on the 360 is a good remake

  • Wow, what a refusal to suspend your belief to review a video game.

  • kai is even tighter!

  • ay fuck you.

  • 5:12

    vector man ending

  • Another excellent, excellent shooter is Konami's Crisis Force on NE

  • Great combination of actual WW2 footage and gameplay. One of my favourite shooters of all time. The spread weapon was the best weapon for me,although the lasers were very effective against the bosses.

  • The music reminds me of "I Am The Walrus" by The Beatles.

  • wtf a cow!!!!!

  • Capcom always had quirky power-ups. :)

  • the enemy would most likely be the japanese

  • which is really funny cause the whole thing is from japan

  • Excellent and funny review.

  • It must have been called 1943 cause the first Battle of Midway game was called 1942. I guess they didn't want to call it 1942:2. I love this game, it's so awesome, and the beginning of this video was superb. The WWII footage combined with NES gameplay was genius. Love it.

  • awesome vid for one of my favorite games! :D

  • COOL

  • "Then there's the people in the end bosses...once this guy memorizes our shot patterns we're screwed."

    lol

  • When i started watching cgr videos, i tought whats wrong with this guy, that he likes theese old games, but now im starting to like theese games 2...

  • Yes, old games are awesome.

  • Me too.

But I didn't hink something was wrong.

  • like the 1984 reference

  • ha nice. I remember playing this one in the arcades too! Who could ever forget a game named 1943?

  • ode to our sisters

  • I have played the arcade version...it kicks ass!

  • I'd watch out if I were you, Inecom; Big Brother's WATCHING you!

    Nice video too (smiley face).

  • This was the first shooter I ever played. It kicks all kinds of ass. It's not as good as the arcade original, but still amazing!

My sister was ridiculously good at this game. 1942 also.

  • sisters of the time were better than any of us.

  • This was the third game I ever played on the NES "back in the day" I was a beast at it! This bring back great memories. I hope yall did a review on a game called Karnov!

  • @OmegaDeman I'M BUYING A NES W/ THIS GAME TOMORROW!!!

  • i luv this game!!

  • wasn't there a Wind Squid 1984: The Mullet-Battle of Beeronia?

  • one of the best games on the system!

once they memorize our shot pattens we're screwed!

  • "An endless ocean of...water." Great review as always, Mark! :D

  • awesome, I love this game.

  • omg i still have this game

  • Man, 1984 sounds awesome. Review it!!!

  • Cool game but I always hated that near death music.

  • Way awesome video man.

  • awesome review

  • I used to play those kinds of 2d shooters all the time as a kid

  • Great review!

  • Another badass review. Will you ever do 1944?
