Granted later on he became more of a joke then anything, but his early shit was epic. That's not heavy metal, but fuck punk right? I'm lucky to have seen them where I live, in the UK,in 81, and am so glad I did- they where fantastic-especially to a 16 year old kid! They came back the following year to another venue, and because it was a night club, it only opened at 10pm, so I was standing bored outside in the pissing rain from 7.30pm for about an hour then I decide to catch the bus home where i'd be warm - BIG REGRET!!
Fleetwood Mac is okay, Steely (not Stealy) Dan is awesome. But neither of those bands takes away from punk rock or the DK's. It is completely possible to be a fan of classic and psychedlic rock as well as punk. Hell, you can even be a fan of hip-hop or country while still liking the aforementioned genres. Keeping an open mind has enhanced my enjoyment of music over the last few years. Still hate Nickleback, though.

Unlike the Ramones or the Sex Pistols, Operation Ivy has amazing lyrics, and they have much, much more talented music, Black Flag was much more intense and in your face than the Sex Pistols ever were, and if it weren't for them, Nirvana and Mudhoney as we know it would not have been around. Scream is one of the only bands I have ever heard to play intense hardcore punk, yet their lead singer had an amazing voice. FUCK YOU 80's PUNK IS BETTER!!!!!
Sex Pistols lyrics are as good, if not better, than Operation Ivy. Their lyrics may not have meant as much to you as it did to me but trust me the messages in the Sex Pistols music was second to none. Black Flag are good I will admit, but Sex Pistols are ultimately better and more popular. Of all the bands I never went to go see that I actually could have, DK are at the top of my list as most regrettable. There will never be another DK.

I'm lucky to have seen them where I live, in the UK,in 81, and am so glad I did- they where fantastic-especially to a 16 year old kid! They came back the following year to another venue, and because it was a night club, it only opened at 10pm, so I was standing bored outside in the pissing rain from 7.30pm for about an hour then I decide to catch the bus home where i'd be warm - BIG REGRET!!

Fleetwood Mac is okay, Steely (not Stealy) Dan is awesome. But neither of those bands takes away from punk rock or the DK's. It is completely possible to be a fan of classic and psychedlic rock as well as punk. Hell, you can even be a fan of hip-hop or country while still liking the aforementioned genres. Keeping an open mind has enhanced my enjoyment of music over the last few years. Still hate Nickleback, though.

Hey, asshole, DK is the best punk band ever. Unlike the Ramones or the Sex Pistols, Operation Ivy has amazing lyrics, and they have much, much more talented music, Black Flag was much more intense and in your face than the Sex Pistols ever were, and if it weren't for them, Nirvana and Mudhoney as we know it would not have been around. Scream is one of the only bands I have ever heard to play intense hardcore punk, yet their lead singer had an amazing voice. FUCK YOU 80's PUNK IS BETTER!!!!!

Sex Pistols lyrics are as good, if not better, than Operation Ivy. Their lyrics may not have meant as much to you as it did to me but trust me the messages in the Sex Pistols music was second to none. Black Flag are good I will admit, but Sex Pistols are ultimately better and more popular. Saying that if it werent for Black Flag Nirvana and Mudhoney wouldnt be around is stupid because if it hadnt been for some of the bands I have listed Black Flag wouldnt have been around either.
