It has magnetic powered wheels, so yeah, you can go as far as you'd like. this car could be the future of concept engineering. to bad most people are still used to the same old looks of todays cars because to me thats "Old School".

I'd buy one if it where a turbine /hybrid, ev suck and do not alloow autonomy fueled vehicles do, and only relocate pollution hence less efficient. people ca n make their own fuel on the go with a portable distillation machine solar not so easy. ev suck.

Actually it would be pretty damm awesome if they could build a vehicle that works with pedals but gives you the speed of a car regadless of how hard you're pedaling.

But then again... these designs don't take into account speed bumps and even potholes lol. So realistically you'd pay close to a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house for one of these then pay a college tuition fee to fix any scratches >.<

@gruhonjic Firstly, high speed trains use magnetic levitation and propulsion. And secondly, the whole point of the 2010 LA Auto Show Design Challenge was to design futuristic cars, Almost everything about this car is infeasible with current technology.

Two problems with this design.

First, the wheels, while a novel concept, like any machine the more moving parts you have the greater the likelyhood something will fail.

Secondly, This design suffers the same flaw of nearly each and every concept design in that it scrapes the asphalt offering nearly no clearance for the undercarriage. This would be fine if all you ever drove it on were flat straight roads, but one pothole and that's the end of that.

Although I think the shape of this vehicle should not force all the air to move up, because it will increase down force added to the weight of the vehicle so the magnetic suspension would have to draw more energy...

Anyway, I like the concept and this makes the Nissan Leaf seem much more advanced than all current hybrid and ICE cars...

I was amazed at how clueless the entries were. they have no concept of real engineering. they think they are doing artwork for a second rate sci fi movie.
