It's optional with blue weapons. Even a red weapon can be weilded one-handed if you're strong enough, it just won't count as a red hit. A blue weapon weilded with two hands is still a blue hit, though.
I realize this. I myself have been playing Dag for a couple weeks now, but really it's more about effectiveness than anything else. Holding 2.5 or 3ft weapons with two hands proves to me to be nothing but a waste of time.
Why not go with reds if you want two handed style? You'd still have the option of one handing, you'd gain the extra range, and it'd just work better. Not to mention the handles are entirely too short for two handing on your swords. I like to keep a 6-8in min between hands.
Every weapon and every fighter is different. It's possible that you're used to more lightweight or differently balanced weapons, or were taught different techniques. Not saying you're wrong, just try not to assume you know what's best in every situation.
Also, keeping both hands on the weapon will help for defense by making it easier to move in either direction to block. There are other defensible positions, of course, but this is one method.
@knavecornbread I'm not saying what's best, I'm just saying that two handed on short hilted blues is not.
I will agree that the two hands do add to maneuverability -offensive and defensive- but the way that works is the shifting from one fulcrum to 3. The closer these fulcrums are together the less effective the two hands become. That's just physics.
You are free to do two handed blues, but I'm sorry, I can't take you seriously like that. No offense meant, but there are... to be continued
Just to let you know, I'm not one of the people in this video, and the more experienced fighter in the video (one hadn't been fighting long) is no longer a friend of mine. I won't be able to discuss the finer points of why they're fighting like that.
Also, you admit yourself you've only been fighting for a few weeks. Unless you have extensive experience in other combat games, I advise against assuming such knowledge.
If you guys are having fun, that is cool. But you will never be effective fighting that way

so many better choices when it comes to two handed styles and or blue weapons.
Also, unless you can honestly say your weapons are over the 3lb mark, I'm standing by this.

I have been in dag only a couple weeks but I have actually been fighting for about a year and a half now. My specialty is two handed swords.

The blonde guy shouldn't have spent so much time backing up. Otherwise a pretty good series of duels.
