Seeing this video makes me even more excited about my trip to Rome and Paris in September. The Trevi Fountain looks spectacular at night I so I've heard, I can't wait!
I love Europe so much hehe; not because of the faggot hipsters who have made trips to Europe trendy, but because it really feels like home. There is something so different about Tuscan countryside which you wont find in America (at least I havnt found it) your not in the middle of nowhere; there are people all around and they know one another by name. Its kinda like living in a medieval village with the benefits of modern society. and then there are cities like Rome, which are too much for words
this city is beautiful...has to much to offer and digest. i was there only one day...if you want to experience all the big things be there at least 3 full days!!!
am not ashamed of saying and being proud that Assassin's Creed 2 game has brought a colossal explosion of interest in me to admire and be inquisitive of everything Italian. Yes, AC2 may have lapses in historical accuracy, but the most important thing is that it has inspired me to take interest in real Italian history. I still have much to learn.
A very good summary of how iconic and important rome is as a must-see travel spot. Also pretty informative. I didn't know that the coins in the trevi fountain were donated to charity. That's pretty cool
@dodgesxt for reaching long distances you can use naturally both the taxi the bus and the trolley too.
Many tourists rent the bikes or other similar moving ways by Villa Borghese park one of the historical parks in Rome and among via Veneto Piazza del Popolo and Parioli area where there is the Galleria Borghese a renaissance museum and behind the Etruscan museum Villa Giulia (besides i suggest you to visit it it's very very interesting and rich of archeological finds).
@dodgesxt into the historical area the places are not so distance even if also historical Rome is very big and there are few cars walking inside cause it' s forbidden to use it for to people are not resident there in many historical streets so it' s easy and pleasant to walking there. It' s possible to use the bike private or public renting it by the places of "sharing bike". I suggest you to use the bike it' s really pleasant fast and it allows you to see many many things in few minutes.
@dodgesxt but if you choose elegant restaurants by very elegant places the prices grow up naturally so pay attenction about the places if you dont' want to pay so much.
If you have other questions feel free to ask to me.
@dodgesxt ..and the prices can change zone by zone since the historical area or not as well, also by the supermarkets. Everything in historical area tend to be more expencive naturally. But of course to live there is more more beautiful and charming. But for example the restourants are not so impossible about the prices expecially in the zone of trastevere wich are not expencive and very very good to eat. Many italians go to trastevere area to eat too...
@dodgesxt it' s difficult to answer it cause I dont' know how to compare it with US for example. Anyway Rome as city is less expencive compared the North Italy included Florence. But it's more expencive compared the South Italy. It' s important separate the areas into Rome cause naturally the historical center is more expencive.
The food here (in all italy) are normally fresh day by day as milk vegetables or meat (without any hormons wich are absolutly illegal) both in stores and supermarkets..
@dodgesxt cause most of you use to speak as you are in your country so very fast and to us it's often a really problem to understand you well thus to comunicate with you with semplicity.
Italians are great comunicating people but sometime also shy to speak in another language so if you speak fastly you dont' give us the right courage to speak in english and sometime it blocks us a little instead we like to comunicate with foreigners who come here but you should help us too.
@dodgesxt hi excuse my english I am from Rome. Dont' worry if you dont know italian language in Rome we are used to home tourists from all the world who dont' speak even any italian word. But I suggest you anyway to study a little of it if you want to be more integrating in the italian population for the holidays period and to get feel less to be in a foreigner country.
However in the historical center most are up to speaking english. But please speak slowly yourself casue most of you..
When i visited rome i had the time of my life...the buildings and history took my breath away! Rome is the cause of why i am so in to history now....and at 1:30 i actually ran into that guy..he is hilarious lol :)
@dodgesxt Ummm... you're acting like NO ONE speaks english in italy. do you know how many thousands of non-italian speaking tourists visit italy every day?
Glad to know that man. I'm a bit surprised that noone of your friends want to visit Europe since I think that Italy, Spain, France are still in the top 5 of touristic destinations (and my China's trip was ugly). Btw I live in the north so I'm far from Rome, but let me know if you need help. I've been in USA (Florida n NY) this summer and it was great.
I guess you shouldn't feel scared. Young people and those who work in touristic places generally can speak english enough, at least in downtown, in hotels, restaurants etc. Just speak slow and don't mind our accent.
I suggest to bring with you a map, an handly dictionary, useful phone numbers and a bit of patience. Just in case, you can use your hands to explain, like we do in Italy :)
((FOR LIAM McCARTY)) SHAME ON YOU Italian authorities/COURTS you could have done the RIGHT THING BUT YOU hurt him for liFe SICK- YOUR SICK SHAME ON YOU ALL
Once in the Roman Forum I found a human SKULL just sticking up from the ground under a bush in an area off the beaten path-I told the security there and they didn't seem to care. also was kicking the dirt in the forum and found a mosaic tile portion but left it alone, didn't want to get in trouble
