From Australia I thank you. I was given a steel guitar when I was like 15, many years ago. My father in the Army, together with our family transferred to another part of the state. I left my precious guitar in our home. I returned home to find that it had been stolen. I never did learn to play, but still wish that I could. I enjoy your renditions immensly.
I've played this video about 5 times now, and listened to many of your other recordings. Very good. Great playing.
I don't even know what a steel guitar is, up until now. How did I end up here....
Ah, yes, I remember. After hearing the song played on the radio, I looked it up in my library with sheet music. Then I went onto youtube for some inspiration on how to play it, on a Hammond organ.
I hope my organ rendition will be half as good as this, because then, it'll be great.
Superb rendition of "Save the Last Dance for Me" !! You are really making musical history and deserve a place in the "country Hall of Fame". I could listen to your steel guitar music for hours ! It is indeed verty relaxing....... keep it up Dave ! RJS Malaysia
I came across this video by accident and could simply not believe how this modest British guy sits at what I thought was a some kind of circuit board only to produce something that had me listening to it time again. Apart from the fact that I love the Drifters, this performance was still thrilling and then some. I am British too!
Hi Dave thanks for giving so much your playing leaves me breathless you got a smooth style God Bless You and Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas us steel players enjoy your music very much talk later going to play for Christmas Party were I live hope they dont throw me out you an tony Brown and Tony Arrwod inspire all of

I wish to thank you all for your comments to my youtube broadcasts. It is very much appreciated. I do try and contact you all personally if there's any questions that I have been asked, and I also make note of all your requests too. I have some great ideas for future videos and I will try and play some of your requests also.
Well, I am sending you a blessing from a different country, different continent, different historical and cultural background just to say you are a great musician.
There is quite a touching story associated with this song. Doc Pomus who was one of the writers had polio and got around on crutches and couldn't dance. His wife was a Broadway actress and dancer....He would take her to dances and let her enjoy the music...but there's the plaintive reminder "save the last dance for me and remember in whose arms you're gonna be" Kinda sad isn't it?
Dave..Your going to..." TRY, and play Save The Last dance for Me "...Who

I agree that Dave us just amazing. I come from a first love of Sol Hoopii's non pedal stylings but I do now believe that Dave is now my favorite pedal player.
Good God!!! Who is this "masked man". I've never even heard of Dave Hartley, but Dave, your one of the most amazing players I've ever heard, and I've "heard em all" or at least "some of the best", including Buddy Emmons. You've got amazing tone, amazing technique, amazing style, in fact, just amazing everything. My hat is off to you. Marc Trainor.
Dave : How can you get so much out of a ten string guitar; fantastic playing; sweet, smooth and full of your famous talent on that RAINS.. I swear, you get better each time I hear you..Bernie
Wow, Dave , what a fabulous sounding guitar that RAINS is; the goose bumps are jumping out of my ears; you do just a grand job on this beautiful old song; best version I've had the privelege of hearing.. thanks..Bernie
Dave; what a fantastic version on this great number; I swear you sound better each time I hear you play that git-fiddle. Better not let those Mexicans hear you playing such a ChaCha melody, they'll be smuggling you across the border.. He;He..Bernie
Hi David...your sounding awesome as always...no matter what song you play you definitely shine on all of them...Take care, Your South Texas Friend...Brian

I think this song was first recorded in 1960 by Ben E. King and the Drifters.
