Well, what I want to know is how much money from selling product going to original creator of movie, game, book, music etc. and how much money going to greedy corporations? How long does copyright protection last? I read that it last for authors life plus 70 years after death. It's ridiculous! They can charge you for product they produce over 70 years ago! Even if they erned 1 bilion $ form screening the movie, they still can charge you with a crime for free watching. Greedy bastards!
I only download to check and see if I like an album before I go buy it. It sucks, but I don't like reading reviews, I like to check out stuff for myself.
I don't see how that's wrong, since I'm paying for them anyway.
Without the free downloads and media on the internet, i would have never got into marilyn manson, and i would have never bought every album he has ever made.
So in all of that.
Is it wrong?
They still get their money, and the "illegal" downloads were like an advertisement to me.
But the way i do things is... i download whole albums from thepiratebay... (Kind of like a free trial...) then when IF i like it, i go to the store to get the great quality version, in a portable CD.
Same with the music videos i have.
I love the music videos that i downloaded for free..., and i want to be able to play those with even greater quality on my TV...
So next month I'm buying the dude's DVD that has all of his music videos on one disc.
i downloaded a shitty quality song from somewhere, liked it, wanted better quality, and to hear the rest of his music, so i went to the store and bought his album.
But of course that must still be piracy... so i'm going to turn myself in.
I really think the message he was conveying was that if you don't stop, turn yourself in. You probably should legally buy the old stuff you downloaded for free from official websites, and probably delete the free copies. I'm not really sure if I'm interpreting him right but thats what I think. >_> Just an opinion.
I think videos like this could result in xray scans being performed before entry into a movie theatre or concert or the FBI cracking down on the pirating websites.
However I do have to say that I've downloaded music illegaly since I was I think about 5 years old... or my family did and I'd learn how. I didn't know it was illegal until I was... older. Don't know what age. But right now I have over 2,600 songs on my ipod and I still don't really care. No one gets caught. I only buy the songs if I can't find it illegally because they aren't that well known. It's just how I was raised I guess... lol.
im Surprised im not in jail lol,i have 2000 songs on my ipod and probably 80% of is is frostwire, i think this video has made me stop lol, besides i feel better when i buy music
Only one small problem, if that "equal money" thing were to happen to even just the music industries then everyone else would start riots and such, eventually leading to brain surgeons making the same amount of money as the fry-cooks at mcdonalds. completely no offence to your video or views though, awesome vi, keep it up! :)
I understand what your saying but I guess what I would think is if the company is loosing money and going to lay people off due to not enough money, they should take like...20-30% of the singers/actors pay and help the company
dizzler makes life easier. listen to the music when u want and without downloading anything so thats my solution (but i couldnt careless not like i would stop dling music off of sites)
Read the text that appears BEFORE the video plays..
And am I honestly going to say "Ya, I download things through torrents"? and the turn yourself in line was a joke, but I guess you didn't pick up on the sarcasm

Apparently downloading music is legal in Canada due to some loophole. Everything else still is illegal though
