the games designers messed up. The American landing craft is called a Higgins boat not what he said.

That's what the Japanese soldiers did on Tarawa. They sneaked up the disabled LVT's or landing crafts stranded newar the beaches, and basically mounted either their own or an American MG and shot at the Marines from there, before being taken out.

Has anyone seen the film letters to iwo jima?this map looks exactly the same apart from on the film there are tunels in the mountains.

The best round of 1942 I ever played was on this map. I was using the battleship way out at see and a dude named Mr. Potatohead was calling in arty. I got 30 kills and no deaths in about 5 minutes. All the bad guys had to span on the mountain and I just hosed them down with shells as they tryed to break out. It was epic.

I don't know, they did manage to keep the other flags while 315 was preoccupied with the defgun.

If by 'preoccupied' you mean completely neutralizing the enemy's only tank and defgun while simultaneously singlehandedly accounting for reducing their ticket count by over 20% of their starting tickets with kills alone.... then yes, he was very 'preoccupied' =P
