Depending on what slot is open to ship down range from MEPS to whatever military base your going to.Some people I knew joined a week before going to Infantry OSUT and some wait a year. As for me it took me two months and FYI freggin stall to go BCT to another date as I did, the reason is because the girl I was going to Marry and decided to stay another month, and now wished shouldn't have done that if ur gurl is willing to wait let her wait and be faithful

@jandj121091 Yes. OSUT stands for One Station Unit Training. The first half is BCT and then normally you get a family day and a day pass. You do not have a graduation ceremony at the end of BCT -- that's what family day is. Then you go directly into AIT with the same unit, same station... nothing changes other than the focus of your training. After you are finished with AIT you have a large graduation ceremony. This was our experience at Ft. Benning.

Fatness is a temporary condition that if you think your capable of becoming infantry, you are most certainly capable of relieving yourself of. start eating alot less and start running. thats the short and sweet of it. if you go in with that kind of attitude they most certainly will have a blast with your butt. go in there ready to learn, thats what your there for.

I graduated 25 Sept 09 and let me just say that while i was there i dropped 50lbs. got ripped and worked my but off, but after all was said and done, when you get that pin and your drill Sargent shakes your hand, it makes it all worth it. now for low lights prepare for a lot of discipline and no sleep. also STAY AWAKE!! its no fun getting smoked for falling asleep in a class. um...oh and pay attention because the stuff your drills teach you is some awesome stuff.

don't worry about a thing, depending on what company you get you should have an amazing time. just remember that when you get there make the best of it because its not fun by any means but as i personally look back on it i really did have a good time and the friends you make last a life time. i still talk to my battle buddy and he is in Haiti right now and some others from my company are deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

shit I know some kids there recruiters just gave them pfc. but if not it from an E-1 to E3 will take you like a year. And if you get to your unit and their sniper section needs one they will be looking for one have a high pt score and know your shit. When you get to your unit ask for a FM 23-10 and read that shit likes its your bible. And if you really stand out and they want you they will promote you. Lots of different shit you can do. But getting it at future soldier would be way easier.

alright, im checking out that FM 23-10 thanks for telling me about this, now how likely is it that I can get into sniper school, im still going to shoot for it no matter how hard it is, but I just want to know what im up against. I have not even left for basic and im meeting ranger level PT requirements, but ive got some people who are saying hell ya you should get into it easy, and others saying I dont have a chance, figured id ask you since you actually got in.

All I have to say man is read the FM decide if its what you really want to do. It's not like you see in the movies you are not gonna be blowin peoples heads off all the time. you are gonna be the eyes and ears of the infantry company or platoon or whoever you are attached to man. You will just be an overwatch element for the most part. And if you dont make it as a sniper look into being a Squad designated marksmen thats what i was at first its pretty good start to the fundamentals of shooting.
