  • They make it look so easy

  • World record holder 19 years and counting... What's everyone's guess on when it will be broken???

  • Is It Jst Me Or Dus This Song Come Out On Hellsing ? :/

  • Pretty fucking great athlete.

  • KOZAKIEWICZ WŁADYSŁAW TO CZŁOWIEK LEGENDA

  • kozmon0t : это ты так шутишь, или ты совсем дурак?

  • This record has never been broken because Bubka was constructed at secret Soviet Institute for Cybernetic Research, and after collapse of Soviet Union, technology was lost.

Same reason nobody can beat Jurgen Shultz's record at discus, who was constructed at secret East German Olympic robot factory.

  • Is this still the world record?

  • @phraedusthamusicdigr Yes. 6.14 outdoor and 6.15 indoor is still the world record. The two closest challengers have only jumped 6.05. Counting both indoor and outdoor, he broke the world record 35 times.

  • Top of the world baby

  • Ese día Bubka hubiera sido capaz hasta de romper el techo xD

  • I cam do higher than this in my homemade pole vault in my back yard 8 metres 21

  • love ole vault, started a month or so ago and im already jumping 180-190.

  • very good video . thanks.

  • the beautiful elegant sport..

  • Haha freshman year I went 10 6 without bending the pole. XD

  • Vaulting doesnt start until 4:38 :)

  • the first vault was scott huffman without the roll

  • About how long are the poles they use?

  • @hastilymadevideos 5.2 meter poles roughly.

  • what song is this?

  • I wish everybody could get "high" pole vaulting XD

  • Pole Vault is the best sport ever!:)

  • 13 people can't even clear opening height

  • Pole vault at 8:00 for anyone that wants to skip the crap.

  • @PohTayToez thank you so much

  • this video is very motivational.

  • Is this good waiting for my slow internet connection?

  • senior in highschool and i have won state 2 and my pr is 17'6 on my way :D

  • @Jatbros no one on the internet cares

  • Look at the dude at 6:50. If you pause it just right you see him grab the bar.

  • Ya I cleared 10 feet at my first meet ever, freshman nbd ;)

  • my p.r........8'6"

  • World Record is at 8:00, like if this helped(:

  • vaulting actually starts at 4:39

  • Boss

  • song is sounds familiar. what song is this?

  • 5:33

    most intense jackknife ever?

  • i love pole vaulting. ive been studying bubka alot and wanna vault jsut like him but so does every other polevaulter. ive been pole vaulting 2 days is clearing 8 feet good?

  • @xcr1msonx i also just started pole vaulting only a week ago and yes 8 feet is good. I just made 9 feet a few days ago...just give it time and you will get a lot better.

  • @sabbath1897 yea i just hit 9 like a week ago , almost geting 9,6

  • I think that this video was excellent. A rare behind the scenes look and the culmination at his 6.15 leap. We bow to you sir.

  • That was the most time wasting video ever. I enjoyed it from 8:01 to 8:10. The other 9 minutes and 16 seconds were super SUPER boring!

  • 8:06 imagine how good that feels.

  • @Yodaismycopilot yes the absolute world record is indoors and it was set by bubka

  • this video needs to die

  • such a small stadium for such a huge historical event (in my opinion)!!!

  • 17 years... :)

  • Guy at 6:17 almost got his nuts destroyed

  • today i tried it for the first time in track and field and i got 8' and im 5'7

  • @handymannyyy my friend is about 5' 7" and he has cleared 14' 1" good luck

  • Holy shit what a audience ;)

  • @EnJoker1 it's pretty depressing

  • @TP1R

    What do you mean?

  • @EnJoker1 The audience in the beginning was really small, I didn't notice that it was packed in the end there, I was probably distracted by bubka haha. But needless to say... it is depressing that football, basketball, etc... teams pack stadiums 10 times bigger than that every weekend. There are a lot of sports like track and field that don't get as much publicity and don't grow as much because they are overshadowed by "spectator" sports. nothing against any form of athletics, im just sayin

  • CLUBBED TO DEATH! Matrix FTW

  • Miss....Miss.....Donetsk, We have lift off.

  • 8 people can't pole vault

  • @CheyTac2 and they're all black ;) haha jk im black tooo soo yea =]

  • @MrDeltaMaster I do know some good black vaulters

  • @CheyTac2 yeah it was a joke..im a black pole vaulter -_____-

  • @MrDeltaMaster Yeah, I figured...I was just saying.

  • @MrDeltaMaster

    What's a black pole vaulter?

  • 6:46 that must be the highest hip height in history!! The bars at 5.90. Looks higher than his 601 in 1997! :D

  • take to long to start... sorry

  • WHAT IS THIS SONG?

  • @MrGabripalace

    rob dougan clubbed to death

  • 20.1771654 feet is his world record !!! holy shit !!

  • Incredible footage. Historically significant.

  • the crowd should be quiet ==

and putting the bar back up there must suck XD

  • 6:47 was a close one lol

  • Comment removed

  • how do you prevent nut shots?

  • i pole vaulted 18 without the pole. this guy sucks

  • i'm 5'6 145 pounds and i jump 12ft :p

  • i feel honored as a pole vaulter to have one of the best coaching me. ive got a 5 time world champion pole vaulter coaching me. Of coures he was after bubka. but still i feel honored

  • wtf is the song i need to know NOW

  • @goten2oooo clubbed to death by rob dougan

  • @goten2oooo Ghetto boyz- still

  • @goten2oooo This is from the 1st matrix soundtrack

  • great, should i quit now, or what?

  • @mavriksfan11 never

  • no the people that excel are the people that can control there step and pick there feet up

  • whats the name of this song

  • i didnt mean short people i just meant ripped i guess my dad was a state champ with 14' in nj 1981 he is 6 ft tall and 160lbs... same weight since high school i've noticed that the best vaulters are not REAL big guys !!!!!! is that not a true statement , show me 1 great vaulter that weighed over 205 lbs..... thanks i thought so...........

  • what song is this

  • this is one of those sports thats all technique youll never see guys doing this that look big its the smaller strong people that excell well ....

  • @extreeeeeemist Yeah Steve Hooker is very small :S

  • Dude you make it sound like only super small people that are strong are good at it, Bubka was 6 feet and 176 pounds, more than the average athlete.

  • whats the song called?

  • clubbed to death by rob dougan

  • Anybody know of the jump Bubka makes over about 20'6'' where he intentionally brings the bar down with his hand after successfully clearing it, so as not to break his record by too much at one time? I remember seeing that years ago on a pole vault video. It was said he got paid by his sponsors a bonus every time he set a new record, so , purportedly he would only break the record one centimeter at a time. Good business sense I guess but injuries put an end to what his potential truly was.

  • @dlucas90 i've never heard of that. why wouldn't he just break the record by 1 cm and clear it, rather than attempt at 2cm and bring the bar down? That's a loss of $50,000.

  • most pro never break the record by more than a centimeter or quater inch due to sponsorship benefits they get everytime they break a record. so that would be very believeable that he would not want to break his own record by a large height.

  • whats the song???

  • 5:48 jump-lol

  • This looks like an indoor meet. Was Bubka's best performance indoors?

  • yes the 6.15m(world record) jump was in this video.

  • @Yodaismycopilot no it was outdoors he was the first person to clear 6 meters out doors though

  • @Yodaismycopilot Yes it was. 6.15 indoors, 6.14 outdoors

  • Comment removed

  • @Yodaismycopilot ya its was 6,14m outdoors 6,15m indoors

  • Anybody know how high bubka is gripping for the 3 step approach? Im guessing 13' 6''?

  • I was told he could push a 14' grip to verticle from 2 lefts so probably about that with a swing from 3.

  • More around 14'.

  • he was holding a 14" hand grip, Its just amazing how he can straight pole with that high of a grip.

  • Hate to break it to you all, but he is only gripping around 4meters (13'1) in this video.... I doubt he could swing up holding anywhere near 14ft.

  • discgolfer550 is probably right 14 feet sounds a lot too high to me for straight poling

  • Well apparently as a test, he could move in a 4.30 grip from 6 steps on a straight pole. Vut from my understanding he would stall out before falling into the pit. I also heard he could straight pole 14ft from 6 steps gripping around 4.05-4.10...

  • Bubka is NOT holding at 4 meters in this video. That would entitle a 7 foot vault over his top hand. The best vauklters in the world including Bubka jump around one meter over their top hand grip. This pole was probably a 17' 4" (maybe 1") 220lb 10.2-8 flex, depending on which of his poles he used.

  • @swingfire we were talking about his straight pole grip

  • @swingfire But later on you'll see him go over his grip by at least 4 or 5 feet.

  • @swingfire no, but in the warm up in the inversion drill he was holding at 4, thats what they meant

  • @DanielGardnerPV it's in the related vids "inrol uit zespas..."

  • 4:07

  • absolutely amazing.... flawless form... i just wished they showed a close up and slow motion so i could learn....

  • Sergei Bubka is the 6 time world record holder and will be having many kids so know what your talking about before u speak roch202020.

  • 6 time world record holder?? more like 30 time

  • Exactly 17 times outdoor and 18 times indoor record holder and 6 times world champion.

The 6 m. 15 cm. in this video is not logged as world record as it was achieved indoors. Officially the men's pole vault record is Bubka's 6 m. 14 cm. achieved at Sestriere, Italy in 1994.

  • Is Sergei Bubka the same guy who got "hit" on the penis at the 2000 Sydney Games?

  • nope

  • bueno el video

  • I issued Bubka an american visa. That guy is ripped.

  • Dont lie.

  • LMFAO

  • GREAT MATHER RUSSIA

    USA русский язык haha

  • Claude Nougaro - French singer

  • OMG, that is the beter pole vault competition ever i saw O.O

could you tell who are the other jumpers?

Huffman, Yegorov, Looije...I can't recognaise any more

    greats

  • holy what's up with that one at 5:55 where the pole just flung him over, so much extra energy in that vault

  • There is more acceleration of the pole in the last few strides - downwards ie it stays high longer in the run up

  • go hooker

  • yeah from matrix theme

  • Clubbed to death - Rob Dougan

  • i think its the matrix theme song. not really sure

  • Pish posh. I jump that height on my high jump...

    Jk.

  • Я там был!

  • That first guy at 4:39 is scott huffman isn't it? You never really see any videos of him vaulting without 'the roller'. I know he could efficiently vault both ways.

  • wow. so fast and strong. efficient take off, plant, swing and invert, amazing push off. please share your genes with me!

  • what is the name of this song?

  • clubbed to death

  • i agreee you dont find many people like him its like once ever

  • bubka's record i am afrade will never be broken its just one of those things

  • i think it will stand for a long time.... but it will be broken, they said a 4 minute mile was not possible, it was broken. now the record is 3:43.13. This record can be broken but it will be extremely difficult

  • Hooker is getting up there. He has a chance

  • I don't agree. Jason Colwick. He's the best vaulter you've never heard of. He'll break it. Just watch.

  • I don't think he will pass 6m! I think his personal best vault is 5.72 metres, so he has still a lot to do. 28 cm.

Look Renaud Lavillenie, he already passsed 6,01m. I now he is a little bit older but not as much. ;-)

  • I Love This Sport!

  • What's this song?

  • clubbed to death

  • Sad thing all those children cheering there are just there for decoration. Girl jumping around at 8:20 is just silly

  • i love pole vaulting,, its the best thing in the world!

  • I can't watch tis anymore dang

  • Clubbed to Death puts a nice initial touch to the rainy scene.

  • wow

It's cool to see bubka's jump sequence, he really had a lot of energy stored in that pole ha

  • (RUS) супер видео!

  • Great video !!!

Someone know what was the pole vaulter list of the competition?

From the flags, I quickly saw 4 pole vaulters from Ukraine, one from Italia, two from France, two from USA, and others...

Of course, I recognized S. Bubka and also S. Huffmann... but who were the others (espacially the french pole vaulters)?

    Thanks

  • I believe that Trandenkov is there, along with Tarasov, Gibilisco might be the Italian, but the Frenchies... I have no clue. Certainly not Galfione...? Definitely not Quinon. Uh, maybe Mesnil?

  • Mesnil??? Impossible, in 1993 he was 16 years old, and vaulted only 4.30m at this time. I have also doubt about Gibilisco... he was 14 years old in 1993 !!! But it could be Gianni Iapichino ???

At the beginning of the 90's the best french pole vaulters were Collet, D'Encausse, Baudouin, Galfione (but yes, he was not at Donetsk in 93)... Maybe Baudouin and D'Encausse were at Donetsk... some pole vaulters in the video seemed similar

  • Maybe one other US pole vaulter was Tarpenning, and one from URSS (or Russia, or Unified Team... it's difficult to know because it was the period of troubles) Krasnov.

These ideas are based from the pole vaulters list at Barcelona in 1992 and other results I found on the web during the period 1991 to 94.

If someone could confirm or complete?

  • The 2 US vaulters were Huffman and Hartwig

    Philippe dEncausse

    Italy

    Jeancarlo Beda

    Netherlands

    Laurens Looije

I was so curious, because I know G. Baudouin... and I didn't that he participated to the competition where the WR was done.

  • ya thanks for posting the vid!! superb!

  • Hey what's the song in the background of the competition? I want to be able to jump to the song that was playing during the WR!

  • the song during the competition was "nougayork" from Claude Nougarou, a french artist.

There were also other songs during the competition, but I don't managed to recognised it.

The song of the video is one from the music from the motion picture of Matrix.

  • Nougayork... got it! Thanks!
