  • thats amazing!!! I did not know that a 4age no matter how modded and tuned was able to attain anything above 400hp, insane displacement to power ratio, well im a believer, and you rock a coupe! thats a plus 4 me, coupes need their respect and admiration too haha

  • for drag if you dont have the right suspension set up it doesnt matter how much hp/trq you have cause its all being lost with either clutch slipping or wheels slipping. Tires too have a lot to do with drag. Need some wide slicks and good suspension balance to get a monster launch. I'm sure on a track that car smokes everything. it weighs nothing! I have an AE86 and i'm currently building a 4agte 20v Blacktop. I'm aiming for 250-350hp and about 11-12 sec drag. Will post vids when I get last parts

    lolz.. with 350 you can hit 11.50's, cuz we've done it. with 400- 450 you should be breakign high tens if you have the proper suspension.

  • There's a 4agte in denmark that makes 638hp with a stock bottom end; apparently only the rod bolts were replaced.... Now that's insane! Honda tuners, eat your hearts out!

  • I was wondering... what would it cost to get approx 120Kw at the front wheels? I don't want to touch the crank, rods or pistons (don't need to), I was just thinking ecu, cams, extractors, exhaust and a quad throttle intake. What kind of power would I see with these mods and a dyno tune? cheers guys and go the 4A! brutal little things they are lol (even my thrashed lil stocker does 200 clicks still haha)

  • i have an '87 model aus delivered corolla (AE82), little front drive 4AGE powered thing. Nothing special, mine's stock as a rock, but as I need a new clutch and all new gaskets (it's had a hard life lol ;-) ), I was thinking of building somewhat of a sleeper out of it, just for fun. instead of selling it for next to nothing, which is what it's worth, even with the good motor (as opposed to the granny spec 4A-C found in like 90% of these front drive models).

  • everyone here is wrong. it probably IS the GZE block only for the pistons. BUT. the GZE wasnt the "strongest" block it was ONLY in 7 rib form. not 3 OR 7.. NA engines came in 3 rib 85-86 MR-2 87-89 was 7rib almost ALWAYS.. AE86 GT-S never got a 7 Rib.. *im talking about the MK1 MR2 aka. AW11*

  • It`s the 7 rib block,reinforced with aluminium machined to fit in waterpockets. Before that the block used to reshape oval form.

  • Just guessing, but..

    block is probably from the "Z" version aka supercharged, as it's far stronger than stock. it's also low compression which makes it able to take more pressure than stock as it's high compression from the start. So.. to make a short story long.. build pressure on a "high compressure chamber" = cracks = bad. Build high pressure in a "low compression chamber" = good

    He's probably using the stocker kit also.

  • i only hav a low boost dyno run,, very boring,, if it was me i wuld have a 7a block (1800cc) with a custom steel crank forgd rods 8.0 compression, hand made cp pistons, standard head gasket, ported vallves cut etc,, then sum 600cc stand off injectors, link engine management,, ( im from nz so thats wat we tend to use here) then a r154 supra box with a hilux diff, not a huge turbo eitha,, keep it toqurey

  • @sseleri Just as a ball park figure how much would it cost to buid a set up like yours? If I do an upgrade on my AW11 I would DEFINATLY consider somethig like this. Bad ecconomy now maybe in the near future :) Have you ever raced an Acura Integra Type R? I'd love to see how it goes up against one of them heheheheh....
