But Zeus' misunderstanding became his own downfall.

When they took Deimos, Kratos' mother under the grip of Zeus spent the later years convincing Kratos that Deimos was exiled for being weak(spartan tradition) until he believed it, although he regains that memory later on. But what really REALLY pissed him off was when Ares tricked him into killing his own wife and daughter, so GoW1 is about getting revenge on Ares.

2: It's an homage to Frank Millers' "300" graphic novel, since Kratos is also spartan.

Second, the way he attacks the cyclop, it's to display a mechanich you can use in the game. Ride a cyclop an make it smash heavily armoured enemies. Third, since he's a demigod he barely needs armour, except for the Golden Fleece which he wears on his arm. Fourth, another mechanich, where you use Hercules' gloves to smash enemies down when surrounded.
