I had mine under a 40 watt 4 ft flourescent and at 3 wks they were already 32 inches long. At 4 wks i added a 250 watt MH for 2 more weeks of veg then into bud for a week then added another 150 watt HPS that was 2 wks ago and they are almost 4 ft tall and the main colas on them are already 12 inches long:)

I want to get started in hydroponics, but I dont understand some stuff.

1.) If I use a 4x4x7 grow tent, could I use a 400 watt hps for good crop of say 8-9 plants(mid size plants)?

why are you using a sodium bulb for vegatative state? you should be using Metal Halide for Veg. state and HPS (high pressure sodium) for flowering stage

a long time, those plants are very immature...they need to be sexed and then males must be removed....

then u wait an additional 8 weeks for the THC to grow very dense then you harvest, cure and dry it which takes an additional few days

i grow 3 ounces of weed every 2 months and 2 weeks, it dosnt take a long time, plants can begin to flower at any point in thier life, i veg for 2 week, or till they get 13 inches tall, then flower em, you can gets a pound or two every couple months if your real good

just keep the lights low close to plant but not too close. the plant will eventually grow larger stems to support itself. im sure this last tip is just common sense but whatever make sure you keep the plants supported i used a straw.

i started off using a 400 watt metal halide ,but now im using a 200watt cfl for veg and flower and i think cfls are the cheap way forward.. hid lamps are good but just to expensive to run. so for me its cfl all the way , and i think there great.

Hey I Would Recommend Useing Rockwool and growing them without soil hyrdoponicly and also try using Cloneing and Seeding LED Bulbs There Cheap And Really Efftive and u save Some Green and the earth also u should have 2 mother plants and clone them to make sure there females if there males u will have less THC and bud to smoke then just take clones of those plants and grow them and in 2 months u will have bud to smoke and u no there female
