Punto did not won this particular race because the clutch was busted. We had 20 races, punto vs. 172 that year and it was tie. Sometimes Punto won, sometimes 172. It all depend on driver. Just for the record - this Punto had 155 hp on dyno and it was without Rear seats and spare tire. Subs were out too, and it rolled on 15" wheels. Also this 172 had some mods! If I can remember, it was moded with BMC carbon intake filter, and open exaust. Punto had supersprint exhaust manifold with extra op
i had a chance to go head to head with punto hgt in my opel corsa c 1.8 GSi.. gsi had 125bhp.. and smoked punto! both cars were stock.. my friend had peugeot 206 2.0.. and he didnt have a chance against punto hgt and corsa gsi.. :/ power is not all at stock cars!!! its all about weight and gear box settings..

what you want to do mate is race the new generation of punto. In your clio. the new essesse abarth punto. 180 bhp turbo. not the old hgt. which to be honest it never was meant to be a hot hatch. just a fast tourer. which it is.Any way the hgt wins on looks straight way against that ugly clio. but they are fast.
the new punto abarth still cant match the new clio 197 mate stop dreaming.197 stock times are 6.9 to 60 mph and has mor hp than the abarth.the abart is quick bt not quicker than the 197

Put the punto and the clio on track and you will see the difference. Clio is the best package, power, hamdling, bracking etc...
