@MrMarcioFrota - Actually, I've been to Brazil and I have barely found anyone who speaks English. Many Americans (not most, not all) speak a second language. The second language they speak is most often where there family is preponderantly from. For example, an Italian American may speak a little bit of Italian. Or a Deutsche American may speak a little bit of German ? But either way, why must an American need to known another language but English if most Americans wont get out of the country ?

Most Americans don't get the chance to travel internationally. On the most part, we spend $300 dollars on a trip to Miami from New York where people will be blabbering English to you just like they did back home. Most Americans don't really need to speak a second language/wont learn one because they still will be in the English dominated United States.

I think I was talking about how English is kind of like the worlds dominant language. I remember I went to South Korea back in 2008, many Koreans spoke English (completely surprisingly) and I managed to get around fine. But this is not only an American thing. You wont see a Canadian, British or an Australian man peaking at speaking French or German or Chinese or Russian.
