ehh who can say what's what with so many sub categories anyway? I've always found black metal to be more melodic than death metal, making it easy to figure the two out....but then they got carried away. now there's melodic black metal(seems redundant) and symphonic black metal. I even heard there's melodic death metal...thought that would be black metal then. I give up :p

You haven't heard of melodic death metal? It is a very popular and recognizable genre, moreso than both black and death metal since it's more accessible. If you've listened to any Arsis, At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, (old) In Flames, (old) Soilwork, Arch Enemy, etc.... that stuff's all melodic death metal.

never heard something of melodic black metal :O only knew melodic death metal, symphinic death metal, death metal is in general more melodic than death metal theres nothin against to say. but we know its about how evry singel person does it hear so if there is one who says that black metal is more melodic i wont critisize it. but normally black metal is lilbit harder than death metal. btw whos giving me right?
