After making offline videos from FM3 and now FM4 for a while now, I sincerely believe that the new lighting engine of FM4 has been a big mistake. Not only have we lost FM3 tracks because they didn't have time to convert them, but also the graphics have suffered badly. Try using photmode in FM4 under anything but perfect lighting conditions and you will find it impossible to get a balanced picture in terms of brightness/contrast. What a shame...

I hate how they raped Laguna in this game. Gee, thanks for placing the sun in such a place that it blinds me going around certain corners. That, and the fact that it's just got way too much contrast and bloom to make it tolerable. First they make it all orange in FM3, now they make it impossibly bright in 4. Forza 4 is not really better than 3. Some tracks like camino viejo look better, others like the Nurburgring (full circuit, not GP) and especially LE MANS got really worse.

They changed a lot of trees from 3d in forza 3 to 2d in forza 4, which makes some tracks look really ugly. Just compare the le mans track in both games.

There are also some tracks where it seems that they took out some of the graphical details for performance.

The Aliasing is also pretty bad in this game.

@92jacobf You honestly don't understand the technicalities. If games are exclusives and written well - e.g. GT5 or Uncharted, the PS3 will pull ahead. If games are multi-platform, why do you think they look better and have a higher framerate than the PS3? Because not many developers can program for the RSX. It was called the 'XBox' because it uses the DirectX API used in nearly all Windows based PC games. Therefore it was easy for developers to program for the XBox from the straight-off.

The PS3 uses a customised OpenGL engine which is equivalent to the DirectX10 and is even better than DirectX10 on some games.

So overall I would still go for the PS3.

@Edvardas96 I know that the RSX is a modded build of OpenGL, the XBox uses an alpha version of the AMD HD 2xxx chips. It uses DX10 yes, but some features aren't available for it (as far as I know).

Hardly anyone codes for the PS3 [let alone decent programmers], the platform is overall more powerful, but if you can code in DX [not only easier, but more platforms] you can code for PC and XBox. The XBox is the better platform for the majority of games, whilst the PS3 excels when coded for properly.

Super mario on gameboy looks more colerful than this too. but that doesnt mean the graphics are better. just because its evening on this track in FM3 and you like the colors doesnt mean the graphics and effects are better.

i was going to say the same thing as a few of the others have said. The color of the rumble strips/berms/curb give away which game is what version, blue is forza 4, red is forza 3. And trust me Forza 4 looks a hell of a lot better then Forza 3 when viewing them on a TV, The video just doesnt allow much of a difference to be seen.

they are not labeled correctly if you were aa huge forza fan 1st your thumbs and fingers would almost be broke by now and 2nd you could see the difference between the 2 games and tell that this video has them switched. 3 does not have the skyline 4 does. @TheKlemstone Xbox outputs in 1080p, i would be assuming that forza 4 is playable in 1080p aswell. I would go look, but my limited collectors edition case doesnt have the specifications on it. I wish they would at least put in on the inside or something.... Regardless of what it is, the game is BEAUTIFUL. There is very nice contrast in the colors (once again most likely depending on the quality of your tv) and all of the cars settle so nicely into he scenery.

@ilikecheesedude1 Nurbo ring? It's called the Nurburgring, and it is in Germany.This track in the video is a track in California called Mazda Laguna Seca Circuit. Laguna Seca is much shorter (like 10 miles or so shorter)and much easier to drive on than the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

Forza4 is definitely a better looking game than Forza3, but it's not a huge difference. Having said that though, the new lighting model and new material shaders they used for the cars are absolutely phenomenal. I'm really really really impressed by what they've been able to squeeze out of the 360's rapidly aging hardware.

as you can tell by looking at the color of the apex, "Forza 4" is Forza 4, and "Forza 3" is Forza 3. However, I would need two identical screens side by side, one playing Forza 3 and the other playing Forza 4 to accurately compare the two. But I will say that the graphics on Forza 4 are only marginally better than Forza 3 in my opinion. Its more the attention to minor details that makes Forza 4 better.
