I must not be very American.... As I CAN adapt: I can ride a bicycle, grow most of my food, patch clothing.. But HEATING during winter fosil energy is needed.
I for one say Americans need to learn HEATING is a priority and all the stupid waste needs to end!
OH, and for get terrorism, what about natural disaster? OR better yet, the world has peaked and oil extraction declines more and more each year, despite demand growing.
we have had since 1973 (? first oil crisis) to do something and the PEOPLE, congress and the oil corps have thwarted every move toward solutions. one thing that Jimmy Carter did right was to try to warn us about what was to come. he even put solar panels on the White House. then the foolish or craven Ronald Reagan abolished any actions toward preparing for the future which is Now.
@jerrry400 Don't believe the Lies....... we have anough oil to last 25,000 years or more. Make it sound like we have no hope then all of a sudden save them.
@Dorisequador 25,000 years more? Where to you get that information???? I have been reading extensively on multiple sources that the demand of oil will skyrockect in the next 20-50 years and the supply of oil will be exhausted. Reply me with the information you got. If not, Well, I guess is not true what you said......
@wardogmobius we could replace gaz and oil in 3 years but it would ruin the planets car industry...as we know it. we have unlimited oil on this planet look at the gulf thats just one dig and it;s ruinng so much imagin the artic it's unlimited why do you think Canada is going to be attacked in the future and taken over.. by Russia and China.. you'll see.. resources.
Same as it ever was. The guilt is with the "others". Do some maths you "experts" and you will see the problem is not arabia or some other country. The problem is the idiotic theory of economics. It's obvious that staedy growth can't be sustained in a finite environment. Within 10 Years about 2 billion people are going to die in order to help the USA to sustain its living standards.
Start increasing the cost of any products that are sent into the OPEC nations. I would start by doubling or even tripling the price of food or any water products that are destined for any of these OPEC nations. Two can play at this game.
This is a deliberate attempt by these fanatical Arab muslim nations to create disruption in the world. OPEC is doing for the Arabs what Hitler did for the Germans.
That won't solve a physical and arithmetric problem: Steady growth in a finite environment leads to collapse. And it will happen now. We have long enough closed the eyes on this issue. Now it becomes obvious but there is still people like you sticking their heads in the sand.
Wow... they were talking about $120s a barrel and we just hit that recently! I'm not being horrible but the Americans have it easy over here in the UK we pay about $11s a gallon which makes your cost a gallon look silly.... Our final cost at the pump make a barrel about $300-$400 which is still relatively cheap for 25,000 man hours worth of energy which is what a barrel is... World problems... yes everyone must use less oil but i think we have a while to go before we all start feeling the pain.
I don't wish to be unkind. However, I'm a geologist by training and I've worked offshore in oil related business. While the dollar is a problem, please do not think for a minute that there is no danger. I will look for Mr. Williams' work, but the danger is all too real. Good luck.
ha ha ha this is hilarious!! this is what was the basis of the Limits to Growth in 1970!
We've seen this for over 40 years.... enjoy the ride!

HOMEGROWN SOLUTION...
Tarrif all imported goods, and reduce dependence on other countries. Use the revenue from tarrifs to fund government instead of taxes.

This is bullshit.
From what I gather the only vunerability in oil supply is the trading currency - the US Dollar.
See "Lindsey Williams The Oil Non-crisis" for the rest of the story.

down trend in dollar is only a factor to the skyrocketing oil prices, I think we can do anything!
