oh, and yes, become an Au Pair, if you are low in wits, wish to become pregnant by two different fathers by the time you are 19, think Ug boots are sophisticated, and pronounce "nothing" as "nuffing". Alternatively, dont waste your talent and do a tertiary degree. I am not sure about "communications" though. You like the challenge of creativity I suspect. However, Communication depts are usually staffed by vacuous pretty people, who contribute nothing. Just my two cents.
Spin a globe and throw a dart then google their economy print the page listing their easiest to get jobs and throw another dart. Darts have always been the answer to most problems. Um...apply at a dart factory maybe.
Seriously if you dont know what to do then go to some school...any school...education opens so very many doors. Pretty much any education will help eventually.
You should go to be a tutor in NZ or at a boarding school somehwere else in the world... Uhmm.. it's awesome! you'll love it. it's a great experience!
go for what you really want to do, you may no know specifically but follow what you enjoy, it has worked so far with me although I'm going through the same thing right now, tough times. I'm here on the tube anytime you want some advice and need a friendly ear.
Youre really artistic and theatrical. You should develop or maintain your skills, talents crafts and arts further whatever they are or whatever you aspire towards.
Bottle some water, call it Junolicious, and become a millionaire !!
Teaching English sounds like a good idea B.T.W. If that doesn't appeal to you become an air-hostess. Travel all over the world and get paid for it !!!
too be honest, i think you should stay in new zealand. the way the world is at the moment, its too risky to move somewhere, and then not be able to find a job. I think you should study to get more skills behide you. then go overseas to work. Hope this helps =D
Um...I vote you become a Camp Counselor/ Outdoor educator at a camp in upstate NY...namely Camp Chingachgook. It's an amazing and beautiful place...and we could play. <3
If you would prioritised all those things you want to do , how would you scale them? like list them from the high priority thing you want to do to the least one. You sounded like you are interested in photography and communications courses. Going overseas is good but make sure you finish school and if possible get a qualification, then your OE experience will be much more exciting and pleasent. Best of luck :)
Study literature in Europe, your poems are wonderful. I think it's he indecisive point of view you have that makes them so good. I'm doing quantium mechanics in Victoria next year hopefully but living prices in Wellington are so high! XD
Well Ben is at South Seas, and I'm at Unitec doing the screen Arts course..
Unitec has photography. But I don't think you'd like the screen arts course.. but. BUT you might! Because you can choose to do many things. Production, writing, editing, camera, sound and directing. You might like production or writing.
But it's really slow at the start. If you can handle 2 months without filming something, then it's fine.
Do photography.
Film crews always have a stills photographer on set.
continuing your education should be at the top of the list, of course... but anything that would bring you closer to me than the opposite end of the planet gets my vote. =)
Um....seriously, stop under estimate yourself. Decide your own future. I'm currently studying at Auckland Uni. It has a great place/vibe, and nice people as well. What I'll suggest you do is to visit the unis you're interested in and see for yourself. It's friggin' tiring but it'll be worth it. Btw you can walk into random lectures and no one will kick you out, how cool is that?
Please do come to Auckland uni. I'd love to meet you here next year.
I am not actually in Elam (you'd find me most of the time in the old biology building next door ) however I can highly recommend it because I am in the university PhotoSoc and I know heaps of cool people from Elam. We have excellent facilities too. I have a couple of friends who returned from their OE recently and they are more than happy to be back. Good luck!
My family had an au pair come live with us from Ecuador for a year-honestly I don't recommend it by the end we were so happy she was leaving it was sad
I have no clue what you should do but any thing that gets you to travel is awesome!!! I really can't wait to live in other places besides the U.S. I'm looking in to Missions.
but im possibly only saying this because i study photography, and i might possibly be trying to persuade you to join some sort of photo cult. if they exist. im not sure. you should find out.
u have to stay in wellington. its gonna be heaps sick next year. Speaking of helping people, i would love to enlist your help and the help of a group of you and a group of your mateys. could save me a bucket of cash and a trip to wellington. depends on the cost of filghts. so yea next time you are on skype gimmee a holler and ill give ya the deets if you are keen.
I don't really know you that well, but you seem pretty arty so how about some architecture courses? My brother started some at Victoria this year and he really loves it because it's more art/thinking based; they have to take lots of photos and then recreate original artwork. Also it's very music related, y'know synesthesia and all that?
Teaching English in England? Huh. Those brits are well weird.
KAY so basically I had a careers meeting the other day so I've thought stuff like this through quite a bit. Mainly I recommend you don't come to Auckland! I prefer Wellington so much, there's not much university spirit up here, it's a messy and busy and dangerous city, aaaaanddd yeah it doesn't have the epic building architecture that Wellington/ Otago has.
If you've seen a lot of the world, don't bother with a gap year
if you haven't seen a lot of the world, think about a gap year to gain a greater perspective on the world and experience crazy shizz. But don't go to England, too far, too icky, too scary
I'd say choose whichever subject interests you the most and whatever will make you happy in the future
That's my wee opinion
<3
Think carefully, this is YOUR future, don't just go off what internet peoples say, it's not their choice, it's YOURS=]
I guess I'd lean towards taking a year out to see a bit of the world. Take some foreign Au Pair or English teaching opportunity or something.. anything that will get you out there. I think doing that would maybe give you a better perspective on your life and what you want to do with it. You might just stumble on some totally random option you hadn't thought of and end up being a deckhand on a superyacht in Greece or something. Whatever you do, it will all work out for the best in the end :)
I'm just a wee bit concerned that looking at and talking to your cat, seemed to make you hungry...:) I like the photography thing, and the foreign country thing...go be a photographer for a tourism office...
Hey, photography at the university would be interesting. Photography is always fun and shows people what it is you're looking for in the world...or if you're being paid to take a picture of something. haha
Juno, if it where up to me, I'd tell you to move to California so we could hang out IRL, but this is one of those things that is best decided by you. All I can say is follow your heart and go for what you are passionate about.
I wish I could tell you what to do but that is a decision you need to make for yourself. Just keep thinking about it and everything will eventually click and you'll know what to do.
it's only a year, not ten. so it's not going to majorly cut up your time. GAP YEAR. do what you want with it. and by the way, don't worry about what everyone else wants. do what you want. that's narrowing stuff down for me.
... to be honest, life is so short, and just do what you think sounds cool. take a gap year is my advice, and travel. see the world while you're young. then you have an extra year to decide on a slightly more permanent direction? honestly take a gap year, dooo ittt.
I'd recommend applying for Lattitude/Gap Year, or something similar if you can find it. My sister did it and worked in a school in Ireland and had the time of her life. Plus, working in a school, she got vacations, and considering she was in Europe it was cheap and easy to get to other countries... she stayed in Paris for Christmas and I kinda wanted to kill her.
But yeah, traveling's better than going to school, it's what I'm doing next year =).
My advice would be to take a gap year and work either here or in another country. Gives you a bit more perspective on what you want to study (if you want to study) and you end up with phat dollarz instead of phat loanz if what you want to study changes between now and 2011.
I like very much your blog and your poems· How i wish i could speak english better to value all its beauty, but anyway i think your poems are awesome, very originals and intense, make me feel and think deeply· Also, with your blog and your youtube channel you're helping me to improve my english.
You're lovely: I wish you the best in your live, you deserve it. Besos!
My advice would be : first list what you don't want then try to find out what is actually possible among the things you could do next year : that should help to write a short list ;)
If your really interested in film and/or acting. Michigan in the united states, Is really coming up on major films and stuff like that, and It's only getting better.
