  • What are you saying?

    she needs captain obvious

  • These were not the first concentration camps or the last. The Spanish used them in Cuba during the 10 Year War and the Americans used them in the Philippine Insurrection.

  • Major Dobson-Hughs, AKA the Bald British Asshole, said he served in the 2nd Boer War at Kroonstad. There were no battles there, but it was one of the nastiest British concentration camps imprisoning black Africans, mixed race coloureds and white Afrikaners, women and children mostly, to break the Boer will to fight. They suffered horribly, 27,000 died in these camps, disease and starvation mostly. Makes him even more of an ass, doesn't it? Definitely not Colonel Klink.

  • screw ww2! ww1 was the big one

  • @MrDannysuzy Screw WW2? Show some respect for those who lost their lives in the second world war.

  • @MrNoonieD sorry I meant that ww1 was more gruesum than ww2. I have the upmost respect for veterans (i live with one). I dont put things into words very good

  • @MrDannysuzy Are you sure? 55 million lives lost in ww2 compared to about 10 million in ww1

  • This movie takes FOREVER to get going!! I understand they are trying to build the story and the characters but it takes all the way until pt. 7 (out of 11) to even get to the battle this film is named after.

  • @Jawohl87 maybe the director would focus on the people and not just on ants moving against each other

  • Storm troopers

  • stupid girl

  • I love how ignorant the one girl is when she is told that her dad has basically sent David to death. And even after Sarah tells her this she still doesn't get it.

  • @XXXpalisterXXX. It is exactly my point that Britain went into a war not for her best economic interest or its welfare of her people. Going to war with Germany for Belgium brought net loss to the British Empire. However, politicians, blindly following their idealism, convince themselves that fighting against Germany risking high cost on Britain was worth it.

  • @finchy000 thx!!! lol

  • Well i don't know about you guys but I'd rather a balance of the story historical accuracy and action. All action movies have proven to me that they are mosly bullshit... so yeah skipping to 5:11 or not i don't care

  • @JimmyG228. The official reason, if I recalled correctly, was Germany didn't respect Belgium's neutrality by marching to France through Belgium. How does guaranteeing independence of Belgium leading to war with Germany benefit Britain's economy and citizens? Germany was, at the time, one of Britain's largest commercial partner in Europe. Given Britain wasn't a full democracy at the time, its government was filled with politicians who cared little about economy and its people over their idealism

  • That's funny, because I normally call the Germans 'Jedi'.

  • It's really good that we have films coming out about the Great War instead about World War 2. The Great War was the one of the most meaningless war for both British Empire and her subjects. So much British commerce and lives were lost during the time and it fueled the Second World War which lead to the disintegration of the British Empire. The Great War shows how an over-zealous military and ideologically blinded politicians, even in a democracy, can bring ruins to its nation.

  • @TKKTism Do you know why the British declared war?

I'm 95% sure if you knew why (as I do), you wouldn't have made that comment in the way you did.

  • @TKKTism We joined the war to protect Belgium, not for land or power.

  • Ok now this is your last chance if you say any more bad things i will banned all

  • @RebelGuy95

*Shrug* I dunno. I think of the auto-rifles as being precursors or proto-forms of the Assault rifle in the sense that it's a "rifle" with semi/full automatic capabilities. I guess that wanders into the semantic region of LMG/SAW though.

  • @RebelGuy95

The first submachine-gun was the MP-18, and saw action in WWI

The BAR and other light-auto's (non-german made) came long before the STG

The rest of those points I'll let stand, since development started between the wars, even though most of them didn't reach production until WWII.

  • The idiots here who are just for the battle scenes are nothing more than 13 year-old shits with ADHD...

  • "Cut from the same cloth, you and I."

Best quote. Ever. I don't even remember why I found this so funny. I watched this movie like 2 years ago and today started searching for that quote again!

  • fucking pom

  • @GCAUFilms pom?

  • @sceligator "brits"

  • @GCAUFilms yup I am one myself

  • @sceligator YAY!!

  • @RebelGuy95

Then you have tactics developed in the Crimean War. The Canadians had the best rifle of that time the Lee-Enfield. Ten round magazine, not very long, could be sent through Hell. Always firing. The AK-47 of 1916.

Yeah, but at the large scale Bru developed those tactics, of course forgotten brigadier-commanders will invent such tactics, and then die to be forgotten, then they will be re-invented yet again.

  • @RebelGuy95

Yeah thanks to Monash. But you are wrong, the Russians actually had the first Stormtroopers under Brusjenev or what his name was again. Almost squashed the Eastern Front early in the war.

  • I hope both of them go home alive after the war.

  • Canadian and Chinese were fighting the WWI, but they were never well recognized. Thanks for unloading this great movie.

  • They call us stormtroopers. <3 Canada.

  • Bold move to call a movie Passchendaele fuck that was a massive with soldiers from everywhere

  • Stormtroopers??????

Is Darth Vader going to appear?????

  • @nikemac84

what do you think storm troopers are based on? leprichauns?

  • @xTheGerbilx they were based on German stormtroopers, which are the original stormtroopers

  • @ajm267

    yeeeaaaa... I already knew that

  • They should have made the kid less of a bitch

  • that blond girl is so stupid she is such a blondy xD

  • somebody has obviously not told the writers that anzac ( auss. and n.z.) soldiers were somewhere in the mix punching way above their weight

  • If you are just tuning in after skipping all the boring crap then you want 5:15

  • @Finchy000 how the fuck did you two dunces get top comment? You obviously know nothing about movies, so just go watch violent clips of some Tarantino Movie.

  • @lordxeras What's wrong with Tarantino movies?

  • @downloadgoblin the key words here is "clips"

  • @Finchy000 You sir diserve my nomination for the interwebs.

  • @Finchy000 Thanks.

  • @Finchy000 thanks :)

  • I knw this is a movie and there be nth to see if the boy n David din go to the war, but that kid, brother of SARAH is one friggin idiot!

  • @ckkher if you looked at the special features Paul Gross actually admits this is a story His Grandfather told him and it is true and Gross went as far as to Hire Canadian soldiers to re-enact battle scenes with WW1 Canadian Uniforms he did everything in his power to make it as authentic as possible so everything you see is as true as it can get

  • finaly its getting good

  • eventhough I had an idea it was gonna b ca.....as many cooments state...but I still went through the trouble to watch it, as I dont expect just FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT...jst cos it's a war movie.......

  • 5:11 if you wanna skip the soppy shit and get to the good stuff

  • @sesyloffmd Thank you.

  • British helmet sucks...

  • @MsChevChelios they were designed to protect head from the shrapnal from exploding shells in mid air hence they have a rim

  • @Cladenny

i know but i think they looks like soup pots.

and in ww2 the helmet were able to block bullets and then the germans were better and looked better.

  • @MsChevChelios I have a ww2 canadian british mk2 helmet and it fits better than it works but I do agree it wont protect you as much as a helmet that covers the ears.

  • @butkicker75

    right

  • can any1 tell me what the matches are?

  • 60 min wasted so far maybe this will get better...

  • Get to the action already!!!!!!!!!!

  • IF I WATCH MOVIE CALLED "PASSCHENDALE" i WANT TO WATCH PASSCHENDALE.

  • 5:10 for war

  • ACTION ACTION . . WHERE IS THE DAMN ACTION???????

  • 5:52 they saved him not !!!?? why? stupid

  • FINALLY SOME ACTION GODDAMNIT

  • well i know we're not lame, and you know we're not lame. people like you and me know the history, and the valor of the Canadian troops... vimmy ridge, passchendele, ypres.... battles that involved the Canadian Core, and Arthur Currie.

but this movie tells little about the battle it's named for... this is more about paul gross promoting himself.

  • this is driving me nuts!! this movie shouldn't be seen out side the country (or inside for that matter) poeple are thinking we're lame!!

even when he falsified records it was impressive!! this dude is tooo awsome!!!

  • Comment removed

  • 9:42 I'm canadian and thought this sounded so pretentious. That was obviously meant to appeal to canadian patriotism in the audience. How lame

  • @CacaLauncher23 actually not, we were the only ones who could, the french and brits weren't able to break through

  • @Shanor909 Why are you saying "we"? I'm Canadian and I don't take credit for any of this. And second, canadians simply relieve another colonial Australian division...they weren't chosen for anything else than that and they fought this battle along Australians, British and the French. The Brits and French might not have had a breakthrough but that is irrelevant since these two fought this war on a much much larger scale.

  • @Shanor909 And this battle was inconclusive and was far from being a clear victory so there isn't much to brag about. It was simply another WW1 butchery which makes for a good film. The patriotic sugarcoating is fiction. Canada's war effort was certainly impressive relatively to its small population, but its contribution was minuscule compared to the rest of the Allies so to claim that "we were the only ones" is pretty arrogant.

  • At 4:33 I am I the only one that thinks that pump wouldn't hit an aquafer for 600ft?

  • damn, i skipped through the last 6 parts just lookin for some action. what the hell, every part just reminded me of the time i was forced to watch "pride and prejudice" with my sister. FML. lol

  • @serb1394 du bist ja auch nen Vollpfosten du Lubiza ( Veilchen )

  • AT last we got ourselves a battle there!

  • 5:11 for the real shit.

  • "what are you saying?" that was a pointless line by the blonde chick

  • story getting better........hold thumbs.....hope I am not wasting time here....

  • BY THE WAY I stabbed a 17 year old german boy in the face.

  • for some reason, this feels like a canadian world war 1 version of "Pearl Harbor"

  • @myKyuubischild pretty much

  • Any Irishman who fought for Britain was a hero he stopped fighting for his own country and started fighting for someone else's country

  • Movie begins @ 5:02

  • Stormtroopers, I like it.

  • @Rocketpeace1 What about Darah Obriean? Sorry but I have no indepth knowledge about some random comedian who just happens to come from a country of subject matter.

  • That love letter made me LAWL

  • lmao fucking brits

  • @RobbTZombie And you are from Canada. You may aswell of just insulted yourself.

  • @Perilix im irish canadian dumb fuck dont lump me in with those murderers

  • @RobbTZombie Psh! Because no Irish man has ever killed innocent civilians. Ya fucking idiot.

  • @Perilix less than the brits and at least the irish never invade innocent countries and oppressed the native population

  • @RobbTZombie No, but stupid enough to kill your own people.

  • @Perilix traitors anyone who supports the brits are traitors and police forces kill there own people every day IRA and the PIRA are the same thing a police force that fucking works

  • @RobbTZombie Because innocent civilians who didnt care about the conflict getting blown to shit is obviously justly done. Idiot.

  • @Perilix thats not what im talking about and the amount of innocent civilians hurt or killed in the IRA bombings pale in comparison to the amount killed by the british and any innocent family hurt by the IRA are remembered and viewed as a sad but necessary casualties to gain freedom from there british oppressors and to say that there were people in ireland that didnt care about the conflict make you sound even more ignorant then i already knew you were

  • @Perilix have you ever heard of bloody sunday 13 innocent people killed countless others injured the amount of INNOCENT irish lives take pale in comparison to that single event and if you think that that day was justified you even go against how the british government feels about it to be honest i dont even care any more the majority of of Ireland is free so even if you think that the IRA was wrong it worked and like the songs say we fought them for 800 years, and we will fight them for 800 more

  • did anyone else skip through the last 5 parts looking for some action? xD

  • @XMBJuicy

    was 6 times `´

  • @XMBJuicy i did!

  • @XMBJuicy fk yeah we skipped !! we want som blood shed!!!

  • 5:49 whats with him, is he drowning? Are they just gonna let him die?

  • I know all wars are horrific if you are in them. I am in full agreement. I am not a peacenik and understand that sometimes you have to fight, but WW1 was a war that could have been avoided had cooler heads talked more in the long, hot summer of 1914. The Kaiser, the Austrian Hapsburgs, the Tsar, the French ... all four of them had greedy ambitions and reasons to covet someone else's stuff. There were 440 clauses in the peace treaty and 414 of them dealt with punishing Germany.

  • I already knew the general story of the various battles on the Western Front because I have studied that war for decades. This Passchendaele battle was horrific and this story really personalizes it. It makes me proud to live near Canada. God bless the Canadians. Please get this movie into the USA or on cable TV. It should be seen by more people. It is a great movie.

  • @Boelcke1916 All battles and wars were Horrific

  • This is a great love story and one of the best "war" stories I have ever seen. This HAS to be released into the USA. It dserves to be seen.

  • @KEVINAWESOMENESS that's right. The Germans were called stormtroopers but during World War 2 because of their fast "Blitzkrieg" strategy. During World War 1 the Marine Crop infantry were called "Teufel Hunde" which means "Devil Dogs"

    USMC Oorah!

  • At 5:54 why did the soldier say let him go to the other soldier helping the guy struggling in the water...?

I would help my buddy if he was in trouble.

  • Don't you just love it when emotion takes reason for a rape-fest?

  • iron storms ernst junger

  • 5:15 ww1 had some amazing visuals... im surprised there arent more ww1 games and movies

  • @Legokink1 movies i could see there being more of.. but games? it would get really tedious think about it.. you would have a very limited ammount of people buying the game i for one would love a ww1 game but then again how many more people would?

  • @Legokink1

Mostly because it's overshadowed in our day and age by WW2

  • @iceblue345

    hahaha

  • @iceblue345 ROFL! WIN!

  • @iceblue345 our guys where called shock troopers not stormtroppers lol.

  • @viper10011 nope they were called stormstroopers

  • @KEVINAWESOMENESS shock troopers is what the german word shockbroker translates into (p.s I now i spelled shockbroker wrong so don't complain about it). Eather way it was a complement towards the

    Canadians.

  • @viper10011 STURMTRUPEN GET IT RIGHT BRO

  • @KEVINAWESOMENESS Actual name was Strosstruppen-Shock troops. It was simplified to stormtrooper.

  • @KEVINAWESOMENESS well I read in legion magazine it says shock troopers whos right army magazine or hollywood movie.

  • @viper10011 google german stormtrooper, its both stosstruppen = shocktroop but were also called sturmtruppen = stormtrooper

  • @KEVINAWESOMENESS Yeah, the Germans had people called stormtroopers as well.

  • @viper10011 they were caaled stormtroopers asswhole

  • @peachisit555 spell asshole right next time and for crying out load I didn't say anything rude dumbass.

  • @iceblue345 LOL

  • was that john macrea at 6:50?

  • i hate romance in war movies never goes in that much

  • At 5:54.

What is that wihte thing in the middle?

    Is that a truck?

    Great movie btw.

    :D

  • @Andreyloos2 yup

  • @carlnardo But since when did they got big white trucks standing in the middle of nowhere in ww1?

  • @Andreyloos2 well they used everything they had they used taxi and bicycles to transfer troops aswell

  • @carlnardo Yeah that's true.

But for me it seems so weird and modern.

    But it's just me.

  • @carlnardo a bicycle needs a woman like a fish needs a man or something

  • women......sigh...have a way of...complicating things

  • @TheKale808 Better than being gay.

  • i hate how they put romance in war films so they can get the girl friend to watch a good war movie shows 90% of the movie in a war

  • @nsc772 There is too much of that bullshit romance indeed...half of the movie is a waste

  • @Raspout1981

It is necessary... a man has got a woman and he is taken to a front, he dies etc. ... you don't get really drama of war - war is for you only a good action-movie or shooting game. If it is your guru in that subject - i must upset you, becouse war doesn't look like entertainment's stuff.

  • @nsc772 haha i skiped every romance to this part

  • @Eshayzbra96 me too lol:)

  • To much romance, not enough of the war part.

  • Part 7,the movie finally begins! Hooo!!Haaa!!

  • They could have set up that love interest in half the time and got on with the war scenes. Instead we got 'home and away' crossed with 'little house on the prairie'. A waste.

  • @uchitil shut up action junkie {wich i am} i thought i was a great movie and most good war movies the battle scenes are the 2d coolest part

  • @DJsharp707 Lol I agree with Uchitil. The action scenes were pretty awesome, but the romance crap took up so much it all but ruined the movie.
