Marantz BD5004 & BD7004 Blu-ray players

I'm interested in the 7004 model and more of the audio sound quality. I'm thinking of replacing my CAL DX-2 CD player since it developed a crackling sound and it crossed my mind to buy a blu-ray player if I can find one with decent stereo audio sound quality. My CAL player gives an audiophile sound quality with warm, detailed and analogue sound. Is the 7004 good enough to compare it to $500-$600 cd players?
