Whenever he entered in a stadium, everything just seemed to bow itself infront of this fabolous cricket star. Always full of confidence he was, if you watch this video keenly you'd witness that he miss timed 4 deliveries only while scoring 400 runs.
I still remember, I was on my honeymoon when Brian Charles Lara was batting on 36. My wife entered the room and asked if we were going out to have lunch and I without noticing said that, dont disturb me for next 2-3 days, Lara is going to score 400!
yeah i know, this song became really popular in america for some reason, even my highschool band played it, lol at the time i didn't realise it was made for Brian lara
He is the only batsman to have ever scored a hundred, a double century, a triple century, a quadruple century and a quintuple century in first class games over the course of a senior career.[5][6] Lara also holds the test record of scoring most number of runs in a single over in a Test match, when he scored 28 runs off an over by Robin Peterson of South Africa in 2003.[7]
He is genius of cricket, run machine,King of cricket his name will be remain till doom day what i can say about Lara words are slipping Lara is KING of cricket
Mate, Lara is better than Tendulkar anyday! as my man "international2009" states with his reasons which I completely agree with. And most of those runs he made by himself and with either Sarwan or Chanderpaul. Plus it took him less matches to achieve those runs. And he plays with more flair which makes him a way greater batsmen!! Plus if u ask most people they will say that Brian Charles Lara is better than Sachin Tendulkar! Not that i have against Sachin, he is good, but Lara is better!!
This is brilliant. Not many can play shots like such ease and brutal way. It's the class of Lara. I don't understand. Sachin is nor good in one day. Definitely Sanath Jayasuriya, Adam Gilchrist and many better one day bats man. Even test I think Dravid is better than him. Just he played long periods of time and scored means nothing. It's good for books. I don't even remember any inning exciting to watch. I believe Sachin is too over rated. Indian team Youvraj and Shewag better than him.
Lara had class, elegance and technique that no other cricketer will ever possess..oh yeh and do ur research people!! he has the runs and records to prove his greatness..a man who continued to produce ultimate skill even when under heavy scrutiny.

@123REV789 and you should look at the score card SRT come out to bat and who will come in after him. When lara come out to bat look at the score cards,do u know the reason why many west indian watch cricket is lara so don't talk about pressure. when u talk about SRT talk about fake injures and maybe people will understand you.
u cant argue who is betta, they r both completely diff players who played with completely diff teams in diff situations. all in all they are two of the greatest players of the modern era.
Sachin always faced the same situation lara did but sachin had added pressure of people's expectations, critics etc. who can't digest even a single failure of him...
Tendulkar is highly over-rated. I have seen both Lara and Tendulkar live in Test Cricket. Lara at his prime was head and shoulders above Sachin. Only reason Sachin is so popular is because we have so many cricket fans in India. We should appreciate the other players more. As for Richards, no comparison. Tendulkar should carry his bags.
Well,i've seen them both live too and i can easily say that sachin is better than lara...the range of shots, sachin and lara are unique in their own right but regarding consistency sachin takes the bigger slice of the cake...not to mention the amount of pressure sachin endures for each and every innings he plays which fortunately lara didn't have that 'previlege'...
hi, just a question here, wha pressure does Sachin face? from fans, the public? now which is greater, that or almost always coming into bat with 2 wickets back in the dressing room for less than 50 runs? then having to rebuild an innings with teammates that are in some way (not all tho) jealous of you? answer truthfully pls
you should see sachin while he comes out to bat...man,the pressure upon him,i would say,no sportsperson ever had that amount of it...And when did india have good opening partnership?tell me,who were consistent in opening slot...none...sachin and dravid had to always come when the score is atleast 60 or so...look at the opening records of india for the past 15 years, you rarely see 100 run partnership...
i shud say one thing to stop dis decade dat is both sachin and lara are legends in their own rite.. for runs and average i doubtlessly agree wid u dat sachin was way better but the batting style and his ELEGANCE was above sachin. blv me sachin never impressed in dat way but i loved lara for his elegance. he actually makes me wish to be a left hander so i can copy him.
we must also take facts dat sachin was an opener for most of his career while lara came in the middle order and sachin never wanted captaincy while lara captained a weak west indies team... BUT its ok its just my point of view.. lets leave it dat both are legends sachin no doubt better in average and lara better in style and elegance
LOLz...so what?one bad series doesn't make him inferior.Lara is inconsistent,he scores a double hundred and then fails for 10 innings that follows...

Cheers to a great cricketer and cricket in general!
Nice vid Flame! Would love to have seen his 501, I was playing down the road when that happened. I think Brian has to be one of the most exciting batsmen and when he gets going he is a mass scorer. Like the other guys here stated, there are some modern day greats like Sachin and Ricky. I remember having beers with Salil Ankola and he defended Sachin above Brian as best allround batsman to the max as he would, but Brian is still the crowd pleaser. I look forward to seeing (cont)
hey, tnks! but u see... i'm nt able to get the lyrics in any site...if possible can u tell me the lyrics? or atleast give me a link to some site where I can get the lyrics??
the entire song if possible!!! i do understand a lil bit but only a bit...like...His bats in the air, tonite, his bats in the air all night! up in the air, jump in the air...lol...
Seeing is believing. I am sorry i was not born to watch sir bradman. But i have seen every match played by Lara and Tendulkar, I think they are the best in this era and many more to come :D
The song is "Signal to Lara" by Austin "Superblue" Lyons.
It was composed after Laras first world record (375) in 1994 and won Superblue the International Soca Monarch in 94 or 95 if my memory serves me right.
The lyrics aren't that complicated apart one or two Trini words
i saw lara play in Ireland he scored over 100 then got out.. he accidently hit a 6 that hit one person in the crowd. he gave that person, his bat, gloves, pads, helmet all signed an met them after the game to make sure they were alright.. however the next ODI(the very next day) Ireland beat them! aww yeah!
Imagine how good his record would have been had he not played against a bunch of cheating cunt australians. How many times was lara unfairly given out then the video replay vindicated him after the fact? Ponting faggot cunt and his cunt team mates appealing for anything hitting the pad or within a mile of the bat.
That's a very poor comment considering you have International Umpires every game, never mind.
It was a privilege to watch Lara, I eagerly anticipated his tours to Australia, you are loved and admired by Australians, and as any true champion, truly respected.
What is that song? I need to download it! I was there when he hit 400. I dont care, I'm a white man, but I was made to feel so at home it is unture. The Windies is the f*cking b*llox. I had the craic with loads of West Inians.
Just A list of what the Rest of the Carribbean Jealous of York Latas Ato Shaka Ian Bishop Kenwyn Jones Hasley Crafowrd Shaka Hislop Stern John OH God boy the List to long i aint finish yet
i think this innings proved one thing, afterall the critism that lara had over the lack of form he was in and how he captained the team he could captain a team to beat the "no. 2 test teeam in the world" whcih is total balls
racism was so pervasive in the bradman era that will not include him in my top 5. Australia was only playing against white nations at that time. Even the West Indies team was predominately white. He was probably the greatest WHITE player ever. Lets get it straight, when it comes to greatest batsman ever Lara is no. 1, Sobers no. 1, Richards no.3, Kanhai no. 4....Bradman no.7 (that is being generous).
brian lara man he is da best u no.deserves to get the highest score in test. too bad for him cause retired after da world cup 07 shame the best player retires.
lara is a great batsan but not the greatest and its not all about the stats. the likes of viv richards garfield sobers stands out cause they were better players against pace bowling. for instance viv richards is the only player that played the likes of dennis lilee and jeff thompson on the front foot and still had time to go on the back foot. lara on the other hand was the best player against spin
brian lara was a great batsman, proberbly the best in the game, but it think it is safe to say that will be more like him soon. after all, as te game gets older and more tactics are tried we can only get better
Lara great batsmen.... Better than bradman... No.... Bradman was a brilliant batsmen cos of his commitment... everynight he hit a golfball against the wall with a cricket stump and wouldnt stop til he had done it 1000 times in a row.... when lara can do that ill say he is the greatest batsmen... also send us that song its good....
WarneysApprentice- when Lara was six years his older brother caught him with a bag of marbles and a cricket stump playing test matches with his mother's plants as the opposing fields-men.He would bat for each team and set the field. When Bradman did that then he was the greatest
Oh yes lara is the best no doubt.what a great innings!!when will you ever see the same man break a world record twice??best batsman I've ever seen in my time and I think he would remain the best for centuries
Bradman was a classic batsman but Lara is better because Lara faced bowlers of the class of Wasim Akram, Waqar younis, Glenn Mcgrath, Warne, Murli. Plus Lara is LBW have the times he is out, that is one thing that they did not have in those days + their was not any 3rd umpire who could give someone out by a cm. Lara is a legend but dont worry their are other great players around.
Listen Lara is better than Bradman..hands down...if Bradman had to face the bowlers that Lara had to face and the hectic shedule that Lara had he would not have had the average that he had..bradman is good but lara is better..so sftu!
all of them may have the potential to do it..and who knows...1 of them maybe will...or 1 i the next generation...but it don't matter....it was always said that they were the SECOND to score 400...the first man to do it (in tests) ever was Lara...a stat that will NEVER change...they will NEVER...take that record from him
For any Indian who sees this and who already saw the bollywood film bhagam bhag and heard it's song signal would certainly be surprised after hearing this song. Bollywood steel tunes. :p
uve got to be kidding lara ahead on bradman.... are u high or sumthing? bradman almost averages twice as lara per test match innings and u think lara is better?
what made Bradman so special is that looking back at his records he seemed to make every opportunity count. their travel times back then were 2 weeks each way, so they had to make the chances count.
ponting is a graet batsman, pieterson is also a great batsmen, there is 1 problem with both of the 2 that i mentioned and that if they are allowed to settle then they will stay at the crease for along time, if u want to get them out, get them out early cause they will be there for the duration
Ponting is a great bat yes, but as seen in the world cup he has been throwing his wicket away. pieterson is good too but once he learns to play for his team as much as for himself, who knows where he could go. all batsmen are great once they settled, its the ones that go on to big big scores are the great ones
ponting can not be mentioned in the same breath as lara simply because of the pressure factor. throughout lara's career he has had the pressure of being the only world class batsman in the side. something that none of the others can identify with
You must be joking thinking that pointing is the best batsman in the world. Bradman, lara, tendulkar are all better and surely viv richards should be in the top 3 list
everyone else from his era were averaging in the 40's too. If it was o easy back then, why werent all the batsmen averaging 100? Bradman is a freak of nature who CANNOT be touched.
Whats this song called? haha

Seeing is believing. I am sorry i was not born to watch sir bradman. But i have seen every match played by Lara and Tendulkar, I think they are the best in this era and many more to come :D

jmannattrash 3 years ago
He was definitely one of the great ones but he didn't have 160km/h thunderbolts being shot at him like Lara and Tendulkar.

The song is "Signal to Lara" by Austin "Superblue" Lyons.
It was composed after Laras first world record (375) in 1994 and won Superblue the International Soca Monarch in 94 or 95 if my memory serves me right.
The lyrics aren't that complicated apart one or two Trini words

i saw lara play in Ireland he scored over 100 then got out.. he accidently hit a 6 that hit one person in the crowd. he gave that person, his bat, gloves, pads, helmet all signed an met them after the game to make sure they were alright.. however the next ODI(the very next day) Ireland beat them! aww yeah!

Brian Lara - The greatest batsman ever.

It was a privilege to watch Lara, I eagerly anticipated his tours to Australia, you are loved and admired by Australians, and as any true champion, truly respected.
ytdane 4 years ago
its all true notice aus in danger of a draw or loss get that extra 2-3 bad decisions their way???
grasstree123 3 years ago
Bullshit, decisions end up even each way in the end Australia are the best team ever no doubt no question

What is that song? I need to download it! I was there when he hit 400. I dont care, I'm a white man, but I was made to feel so at home it is unture. The Windies is the f*cking b*llox. I had the craic with loads of West Inians.

i think this innings proved one thing, afterall the critism that lara had over the lack of form he was in and how he captained the team he could captain a team to beat the "no.

4....Bradman no.7 (that is being generous).

lara is a great batsan but not the greatest and its not all about the stats. the likes of viv richards garfield sobers stands out cause they were better players against pace bowling. for instance viv richards is the only player that played the likes of dennis lilee and jeff thompson on the front foot and still had time to go on the back foot. lara on the other hand was the best player against spin
placid21 4 years ago
brian lara was a great batsman, proberbly the best in the game, but it think it is safe to say that will be more like him soon. after all, as te game gets older and more tactics are tried we can only get better
therichienator 4 years ago
ppl we'll never come across such a great batsman in our life.
BigLaraFan400 4 years ago
Lara great batsmen.... Better than bradman... No.... Bradman was a brilliant batsmen cos of his commitment... everynight he hit a golfball against the wall with a cricket stump and wouldnt stop til he had done it 1000 times in a row.... when lara can do that ill say he is the greatest batsmen... also send us that song its good....
WarneysApprentice 4 years ago
WarneysApprentice- when Lara was six years his older brother caught him with a bag of marbles and a cricket stump playing test matches with his mother's plants as the opposing fields-men.He would bat for each team and set the field. When Bradman did that then he was the greatest
congoblaxx 3 years ago
Oh yes lara is the best no doubt.what a great innings!!when will you ever see the same man break a world record twice??best batsman I've ever seen in my time and I think he would remain the best for centuries

genfu94 4 years ago 2
Bradman was a classic batsman but Lara is better because Lara faced bowlers of the class of Wasim Akram, Waqar younis, Glenn Mcgrath, Warne, Murli. Plus Lara is LBW have the times he is out, that is one thing that they did not have in those days + their was not any 3rd umpire who could give someone out by a cm. Lara is a legend but dont worry their are other great players around.
cricketcrazyumar 4 years ago
Listen Lara is better than Bradman..hands down...if Bradman had to face the bowlers that Lara had to face and the hectic shedule that Lara had he would not have had the average that he had..bradman is good but lara is better..so sftu!
OmanBiek 4 years ago
ponting, hayden, hussey, petersen, gibbs, gayle, jawardene, yousuf, sachin, dravid, kallis, flemming....
all of them may have the potential to do it..and who knows...1 of them maybe will...or 1 i the next generation...but it don't matter....it was always said that they were the SECOND to score 400...the first man to do it (in tests) ever was Lara...a stat that will NEVER change...they will NEVER...take that record from him

uve got to be kidding lara ahead on bradman.... are u high or sumthing? bradman almost averages twice as lara per test match innings and u think lara is better?
murphyrulz1 4 years ago
what made Bradman so special is that looking back at his records he seemed to make every opportunity count. their travel times back then were 2 weeks each way, so they had to make the chances count.

sachin is nowhere near Lara or Bradman.
genfu94 4 years ago
ponting is a graet batsman, pieterson is also a great batsmen, there is 1 problem with both of the 2 that i mentioned and that if they are allowed to settle then they will stay at the crease for along time, if u want to get them out, get them out early cause they will be there for the duration
cplcash 4 years ago
Ponting is a great bat yes, but as seen in the world cup he has been throwing his wicket away. pieterson is good too but once he learns to play for his team as much as for himself, who knows where he could go. all batsmen are great once they settled, its the ones that go on to big big scores are the great ones
Qmaster147 4 years ago
1.don 2.lara 3.viv 4.tendulkar

ponting can not be mentioned in the same breath as lara simply because of the pressure factor. throughout lara's career he has had the pressure of being the only world class batsman in the side. something that none of the others can identify with
