How dare people boo one of the Greatest Tenors of all time " They could never hit a high note like the wonderful Pavarotti. The man is so peaceful and relaxed!!
Stupid stupid audience. This crack that happened at La Scala can happen to everybody any time. Even if a small thing such as a drop of phleghm sat on your vocal ord, even if you didn't drink enough and the throat is dry.
It has absolutely nothing to do with being unprepared. He actually recovered immediately at the end of the note and sang excellent further performances.
It was humble of him to acknowledge the fact that his performance wasn't perfect, however, that audience is amost the most arrogant bunch of people I think is imaginable, I wonder how many singers lives and careers they've ruined with their lack of respect for the work that the performers has clearly put into their art and their instrument. That is not a singers opera house, in my opinion
every time I watch a video with him I feel a kind of sadness because I could never watch him perfom in real life.. Thanks for sharing, he was one of the best ever :)
@Kotlettbengt Yeah. Same thing for Domingo. I thought his speaking voice would sound like his singing voice, but it was much softer and slightly higher in pitch.
Man I really don't like Mike Wallace, he had such a crude interviewing style and sometimes he could be insulting to the people he interviewed. Pavarotti the greatest tenor! Bravo!
Man I really don't like Mike Wallace, he had such a crude interviewing style and sometimes he could be insulting to the people he interviewed. Pavarotti the greatest tenor! Bravo!
how blessed we who loved the Maestros' talent were to have lived within the same 40 years in which this man left his mark of the world of music. His silenced voice is fortunately saved by some of the most perfect recordings ever left in a studio.
I think them booing him is a down right disgrace!! Nobody can be perfect all the time and he is an awsome talent . Who doesn't have an off night? We lost a great one in opera with a voice unlike no other!
I think that fans have the right to boo, but I don't know if they should. I never do. On one hand it may inspire performers to improve their work, on the other hand it feels selfish too boo someone who is more talented than yourself in a particular field.
i believe its those types of people who dont spend their time critizising men who are #1- Dead, and #2- Great Performers who might not have anything else to do but watch something and think. SO tell me this my good friend, would you rather die spazzing out in a bed in a hospital, or calmly watching a sun go down into the carribean sea?
The Carribean Sea sounds beautiful. The author Robert Louis Stevenson died on the island of Samoa. He was only 44. But I think he was at peace when he died. Anyone would be at a peace dying in that paradise.
Mike Wallace very lucky to sit down and talk to Mr. Pavarotti. Such an honest and nice man. A great singer too. Very passionate about what he does. That makes for a great interview.
those people who bood him shouldnt be there they arnt real fans just snobs who expect every little thing to be perfect for theme and his voice didnt even sound bad.
The fact that they "boo" him after such a little mistake (not really cracking), Is a great compliment for the Maestro: that means that they ALWAYS got used to hear him as a PERFECT Tenor, And He knows it... :)))
P.s - And how perfect hi finished the phrase after this "crack"!
Kids loved Luciano Pavarotti and go to YouTube to view his performances. Do you really think it's necessary to use this kind of language? This isn't about Mike Wallace...it's about Luciano Pavarotti.
Actually this is the ultimate tribute because it shows the amazing love that radiates from that man. Even with Wallaces tedious questioning and allegations good ole Luciano just smiles and replies calmly and modestly. There is no ego in this man only truth. I love when he says, "You know what, I am lazy!"
used by "madbeetz11," not to the interview. I just found some "Master Classes" on YouTube which are a delight...the best being "My Embarrassing Moments on Stage." He had a fabulous sense of humor in real life and
I loved this tribute as well. I think Mike did 2 great interviews with Mr. Pavarotti. Mike Wallace always asks tough questions so you have to be prepared for him when that light goes on. I think Luciano makes opera exciting. Before I didn't think much of it but thanks to him I think it's awesome.
Don't know what everyone is on about the interviewer....he only appears to interrupt once and that is due to poor editing of the interview as a whole. Was a good interview and his comments about Pavarotti were not his but a reflection of his critisisms from others. They seemed to have mutual respect and Pavarotti himself was being quite frank, it was just that type of interview!
i don't like the interviewer at all, he is rude and impudent disgusting. and i don't like the smile and laugh of nicoleta mentovani at all he her smile is not nice and her laugh is seems to me like a victory to catch this humble and beautiful man in spite of the objection against her of the people in modena.
I agree with you, Wallace is a poor sort of interviewer if he listens so little that he cuts off his subject mid sentence, and puts a question as if he were the prosecution and Pavarotti were on the stand. That is the way t interview corrupt political powers, not great artists in their final years.
ABSOLUTELY!!! Thanks for posting this vid by the Mac, appreciate it deeply, Live Forever in our hearts Immortal one, rest in peace Luciano Pavarotti...
that crack was heartbreaking to see and the boos were horrible, but I think they did that because he has to be perfect all the time everyday, because he has a gift from god, wow, that must have been hard for him. He'll always be my favorite, always
Well those people think they can do what they want in the opera. Well i got news for you Pavarotti was opera. So i hope they regret what they did that day.
Claude...No offense, it wasn't God's fault...You are the one who didn't know how to operate the machine...not God. I'm not a religious nut, but writing stuff like that doesn't exactly make you look like Einstein.
the italians are kind of stupid.. just because a tiny fail in his voice they almost killed Pavarotti, no one is perfect, but he has a perfect voice tha fail one time... this is just so silly for part of italian folk. And if he r lazy, its just because he had already all in his life and singing just for fun.. Bravissívo Luciano!! Now i will watch the second part and give it a comment too ;) thx for post these two wonderful videos buddy! and sorry 4 my poor english, iam brasilian.
you dont know anything about my people whats stupid is that you are critizing a whole nation of people the true stupid people are you dirty little pieces of shit brazilians you guys havent created shit if you guys are so high and mighty then why is half your country in poverty?, if we are so stupid than pavarotti is stupid, you ignorant piece of dog shit
@iuguolovos I am from Turkey with 'dirty little pieces of shit' Turkish people living in poverty. And besides, I am pretty sure that I am way more better musician than any of you and believe me your arrogant valueless ego-booster applauses and boo's at this video which serves to capitalize and commercialize the music has no future indeed. A constructive critique about the artist's performance could easily be done without the presence of booings or applauses. This is my humble comment.
@evremselle some people in italy our cocky and most are not just like every country, and i agree with you but at the same time its the audiances right not saying it was right wat they did, and if you dont like italians dont listen to our music
@iuguolovos Please, how could you conclude that I don't like Italians. If I made you to think so I am sorry about it. My criticizing was about the disrespect via booing Pavarotti. But even he said, in the video, that they have right to do it. So nothing more to say. Come on now, Italy is kinda the born place of the polyphonic music. Not listening to the Italian music is like not using calculus in maths because of Anglophobia (due to Newton/Leibniz). Please stop saying Brazil has nothing, Wrong!
@JackBigDanniels you dont know anything about my people whats stupid is that you are critizing a whole nation of people the true stupid people are you dirty little pieces of shit brazilians you guys havent created shit if you guys are so high and mighty then why is half your country in poverty?, if we are so stupid than pavarotti is stupid, you ignorant piece of dog shit
@JackBigDanniels not Italians in general. A section of the La Scala crowd called the LOGGIONISTI (The Rude Fanatics) booed him. Read more about Luciano and Opera in general. Peace.
I'm so glad this is here! I just taped over the VHS my husband made of this charming portrait. (God @#$%ing damn it! I was being so careful! Murphy's Law.)
My husband said I would identify with their relationship, and I do. I'm glad it was presented in a positive way. (Almost too positive when Mike Wallace puts that oo-la-la spin in his voice. He should just present them as a happy couple like any other.)
Anyway, thanks to whomever posted this. You saved me from being furious at myself.
I found out the night he died. I was watching the news and it came as a shock. It was breaking news. I never knew he was sick. I never heard any news about him having been sick the whole year he was away from the public. He is really going to be missed, because in OUR lifetime, there will NEVER be anyone that can or will replace him!!!! Rest in peace, Maestro!!!!!
