I would agree with you except, we are all living and teaching in Japan. Some of the cast/crew were Japanese who helped write and produce the show as well. (Not to mention the majority of the audience was Japanese and were not only not offended but enjoyed the parody.) on top of that, it was charity. and incorporating Japanese culture into the musical (especially with humor) was important to connect with the audience.
