I'm not an Atheist because Jesus Christ's image is on the Shroud of Turin, there is a 666 on the UPC Bar code while the developer of the UPC bar code admits this, there is a statues of the demon MAMAN which Jesus Christ warned about outside the International Monetary Fund/World Court/National Mall/Rockefeller Plaza, The European Union is modeled after the Tower of Babyl from the Book of Genesis, and this is the just the beginning.

Just because for the moment the answer is unclear does not mean that either option is unjustifiable. Nor does it mean that it is either this or that, and that to have any integrity at all one must pick their team. As an agnostic, I prefer to accept the information which is coming to me from all sources and choosing to work with what I have received. It is not about who is right or wrong rather the inquiry. Remember, when you choose what is "True" you also take that leap of faith.
@TheSeersTower this person quite obviously knows absolutely nothing about atheism in any scientific or philosophical sense and is spouting worthless liberal "judging people for anything is bad" platitudes in lieu of knowing the basics of this argument, including lack of knowledge for what an agnostic atheist is.
By the way she isn't a scientist, she's an undergrad who would literally refer to people she knew personally and in no professional sense as "colleagues" -as an undergraduate-.
@TheSeersTower you will get chewed up and spat out as a drug-addled philosopher by any and every scientific professional you meet outside of being a student, Tanis. you're too stupid and self-involved to ever be a respected scientist in any field, and you're too much of a vindictive childish bitch to ever be a professor. Everything I read from you is unendingly hilarious, and I can't wait to see how you turn out in 4 or 5 years, given what all I know about you.
Is it just me or is this argument really overwhelmingly irrelevant? Surely I know this opposition exists wholly on the notion that this is a polarity of thought. To believe in God, we must make sure to create its antithesis in order to truly give it depth and definition. Speaking as a scientist I know that when I lack the ability to define such things that they are always already up for metaphysical debate and thus out of the realm of my scientific understanding.
@TheSeersTower If you were actually around any established scientists with any regularity you'd know they're all mostly atheists because they can't see need to disprove the existence of god. Lol you are such a full of shit philistine its unbelievable. There is an atheist community on YouTube. I've watched it grow over the years, but I didnt join until 2008. I found that most atheists were hostile and primarily only science based. Gods don't exist and requiring evidence to prove or disapprove them just seems to give them undo credit. All gods are easily dismissed. Science is not the oposite of believing a god exists, no more than science is the oposite of Santa's existance. Aren't we atheists all the time? I've been open for >30 years.

I am already a "youtube atheist" in a sense, but only a lucky few have seen my two relevant videos and they don't like how fast they are. I am currently making one that is much better and funnier with more time and space travel than has ever been done - it partially takes place at time = minus infinity, and me and God have a universe-building competition. I'm actually going to be joining the ranks of youtube atheists pretty soon. I plan to start making videos in August when I get back from a brief trip I'll be making to Oregon.

I have some cool stuff planned, but I doubt I'll achieve the kind of quality that some of the big names on here deliver. I should have a fair amount of time through August, so hopefully I can really hit the ground running.

Here's a question that'll get you guys goin'. What proof and evidence do you have that atheism is accurate and correct? Atheism is a counter-argument negative claim, and in order to prove that true, we must first decide that they have the responsibility to provide us proof and evidence if that negative claim is true. So what proof and evidence do you have?? answer the question do not avoid
Thanks for the question TC, I know it's been floating around since Shock has been asking it, but unfortunately you need to revise the question. I don't mean to dodge the question, but it's a question based on seriously flawed logic to begin with.
Atheism isn't a claim or a "negative-claim" as you put it. To rephrase for clarity, Atheism isn't claiming the negative, but rather just rejecting a positive claim because of a lack of evidence for that positive claim.
When I get back, I will gladly do a video attempting to explain the point in more detail. I know it has been explained several times already(though more often directed towards Shock than yourself I imagine) but maybe if you hear it rephrased, it will come to make sense for you.
@TruthfulChristian2 see the problem is that thats an arbitrary definition you chose to accept. I can just as easily say athesim is just not accepting a ridicilous claim with no evidence to support it.(i.e. religion and the theistic view of god) Thnaks for trolling
Well thanks for that reminder - I had to go catch the season ender of House that I had forgotten all about. And thanks for getting me to thinking about why one should do anything on YouTube. I used to think of it as a platform for true, free speech but lately, I'm beginning to think it's a place to go to be anti-social. (sigh) Did it all go to pot when Google bought it?
Aron's suggested symbol for Atheism has a far more beautiful rationale, research, and a much more universal appeal than the silly english letter "A"... Your tackiness by highlighting all the letters "a" to hammer home this new symbol is stupid as well... I can see the creationists converting that "A" from atheists to assholes...
@BestestMoron It's a reference to The Scarlet Letter, a novel published in 1850, and it's relevance is clear to those who know even a little of the story.
1. Firstly, the symbol of Atheism as a red colored English alphabet "A" is uncreative and outright tacky... it doesn't have the beauty, the timelessness and universwal appeal of some of other symbols that are eternal.
2. WTF is a Youtube Atheist??? I understand that y Youtube as a small community and all, a few drops in a pond, but your video seems like you are stuck in a small bubble... there is no need to create a new subspecies called Youtube Atheists.
@Raydienz I didn't know this was the theme to House. In England it's different. This is a classic electronica song that everyone in England KNOWS AND LOVES WITHOUT FAIL :]
@user11235813213455 Good God. Get more up in arms please. It was little more than a humerous observation. I like the song, the TV series and athiests alike.
@Sugardude as I have said to everyone else who saw mine as a negative comment, I didn't at all mean anything negative by it, it's just that - in my experience, House is the icon of quasi-nihilistic athiesm. I love House, I love Teardrop, I love atheism.
You are our representatives. We have no actual community so when we hear you express the thoughts that run through our heads we feel a collective sigh of relief. Not all atheists fit into one tight grouping of categories or views; but the majority tend to hold many similar fundamental world views. You give our thoughts a voice and with it our thoughts become a powerful offense to the competing world views.
If you have to show us how the work out he should show us how to eat properly. He should have to make a 10 minute cooking show on how to cook healthy foods that taste great while dressed up and acting like Martha Stuart.
IMHO, organized atheism fails for the same reason organized religion fails. New York City Atheists is a prime example of this. The reason organized religion fails is because it doesn't lend itself to questioning of it's leadership. You're either peristate, or apostate.
It's one thing to be apostate and thus being objectively neutral toward organizations. But by organizing you become peristate, subject to the group mentality.
I think atheists should steer away from the anti theists arguments ( ie. Gods a dick and religion is evil) and focus more on the logic arguments and evidences for the lack of a deity (natural explanations, psychology of emotional thinking etc).
One only serves to piss people off, the other has a chance of making the other person question their faith.
Regardless of how much fun it is, resist the urge to argue with street preachers. Nothing good will ever be gained from it.
you athiests are like any other "F" ing religion. BELIEVE WHAT I BELIEVE! FUCK OFF ASSHOLE, you were going to talk about space and stars and shit when you started. It was a lie then and it's a lie now. Subscribe to me and I'll try like hell to tell you what to think. Why don't you just go chug some cock and fuck off. unsubscribe!
@sav8or And that is why you fail. You don't get it. No "You Tube Atheist" is trying to tell anyone what to think. The whole point is HOW to think. As in think for your self. I DARE you. I double dare you to find ONE atheist on here that will say you should take their word for something and not examine it for your self. Go on now. But you better bring a sandwich. You might be a while.
Ah, no. Atheism is a philosophical position that precludes having god(s). It doesn't include, or exclude faith. I happen to be an atheist, and I often see the presumption that without theism the world would be a better place. This is a position of faith. Could be true, but without evidence accepting this as a valid proposition is a faith based position only.
@Xgya2000 You ALL have assumed I was angry at atheist, I don't care what you believe. I subscribe to what was advertised and the advertising was false. The anger was directed at the new purpose of this page.
"I subscribe to what was advertised and the advertising was false."
Boo hoo. AW doesn't charge money for his videos. Are you really so emotionally immature that you fly off the handle and leave abusive messages because someone decides to change the focus of their free to view channel? And for the record, going from making videos about debunking creationist astronomy to videos about atheism is not a big leap.
@barbnoon1 hit the nail on the head. That was the best description I have ever heard. Well done makes me proud to be an atheist when i read what you just wrote.
When people put O.M.G. after a statement it sorta pisses me off. Ive decided that from now on I'm going to put T.I.N.G. for "There Is No God", its got a nice ring to it if you'll excuse the pun
there is the loosest thing of a community, but it isnt needed and there shouldnt be one. we already place ourselves in groups way too easily. is there a goal? why be one? because before solving a problem you first need to be aware of that problem. religion is a problem and people acting as atheists openly raise awareness to that. that is all the reason i need. do we even need the term? no. im much with sam harris here. but making people aware of the problem does make the difference.
Please credit music in videos. It really annoys me when people don't for many reasons. One is just common courtesy to the artist. Another is so I can find the music my self if I like it. Not a big problem here, I can Google house intro song, but for future videos.
I believe that religions have cornered the market when it comes to places where people can get answers to life's tough questions because many people don't know that there are other places to look. Those places (e.i. research, etc.) are few and far between because people go to church when they desire moral teaching. So many well meaning people become religous and unwittingly vote for politicians that take the religious texts too literally. For humanities sake, we must work to correct this.
In answer, I'd say a "YouTube Atheist" is someone who has realized that there are far more of us than they could have ever realized because of this forum of discussion. Some of it may be due to the relative anonymity offered by the internet but mostly its just realization that we are not alone, there are millions of us who are looking at the religious mainstream and saying enough is enough, there comes a point where the delusions must not be tolerated anymore.
Hmm, should there be a community united by a non-belief in something?
Well, in the case of humanity - yes. Religion tends to generally say "non-belief = evil!" and non-belief tends to generally say "religion is... often bad!"
These are all very pertinent questions - far more than bananas or whether the Bible predicted BP being negligent. Count me in.
It's hard to fit a well structured comment about systemic faults without sounding too generalized; But I'm not here to tell you the details, I'm just a catalyst.
@Niocan WAIT... what happened to speaking in Ye Olde English? Don't stop! I really prefer it when Christians use words like "thee" and "thine" and other long-obsolete terms. It helps me keep their primitive beliefs in context.
@sincristo Ego sum qui sum; I have a vocabulary that includes older words, what's your point? English is currently NewSpeak at this point, and if you compare it to many other languages you'll find it [english] has a very poor structure for defining emotions and Self-hood. Newer, isn't exactly better everytime...
@Niocan "I have a vocabulary that includes older words... Engilsh is NewSpeak bla bla bla compare it to bla bla poor structure blabbity bla pretentious drivel bla etc..."
Way to hone in on the topic, Nio. Project your insecurities much?
Actually I think you're on rather thin ice there.
There's nothing primitive about Elizibethan English (Spencer, Marlowe, Donne, Ben Jonson, *Shakspeare*...) and the King James Bible is one of the few rays of sparkle on the polished turd.
@polymath7 Hmmm... as a lover of the abovementioned poets, I would never say that Elizabethan English is primitive... nor did I. I said it was obsolete. The need for supernatural explanations is what's primitive.
@Andromedaswake I think it was in the Thunderf00t interview with richard Dawkins that thunderf00t mentioned that depending where we are; us atheists are a very small minority but online we become the intellectual majority. For example when I first became an atheist I really had no one to talk to about it but on Youtube there is a huge community of atheists. So In short being a Youtube Atheist is a good thing!
Of course you need a community to collectively project your insecurities upon others ;) Woe is the atheist, whom rejects their true potential; I wonder when the 'major players' in this false rebellion will realize the nature of their position..
Let he who has ears that hear, listen up: Asymmetric warfare beats ritualistic mind-sets.
@Niocan Accusing atheists of ritualistic mind-sets is rich.
Yes, Atheists sometimes meet in social groups, but that is true of pretty much every idea ever. And of all those ideas Atheism is one of the more difficult. The metaphor of "herding cats" is pretty accurate, because Atheists will often not agree on many things. Due to their broad definition (it doesn't take much to not believe in a god), they are necessarily extremely diverse.
Notice how this video consists mostly of questions.
@Superphilipp That comment was made to describe TPTB and their modus operandi.
Also, a comment on your analogy, it's that fundamental point of an externalized common enemy that describes the easiest way to heard anything; I say this with some humility because each source of information these days has their own distortions to deal with.
@Niocan I find your comments confusiong. I don't get the feeling that you are explicitly saying what you really mean. How is Atheism a "false rebellion"? What is the true "nature of their position"? Hoe are they related to "TPTB"?
You give me the impression of a conspiracy theorist who isn't quite ready to reveal the full measure of his unlikely world view for fear of being laughed off.
How about a straight-forward and honest statemant of fact? Or at least belief?
As a joke the last comment by TrunkMonkey3000 was going pretty well there... Then when the punch line didn't come in... hehehe

Atheism isn't a claim or a "negative-claim" as you put it. To rephrase for clarity, Atheism isn't claiming the negative, but rather just rejecting a positive claim because of a lack of evidence for that positive claim.

@TruthfulChristian2
-continued-
When I get back, I will gladly do a video attempting to explain the point in more detail. I know it has been explained several times already(though more often directed towards Shock than yourself I imagine) but maybe if you hear it rephrased, it will come to make sense for you.
TheStoasterRisen 1 year ago
@TruthfulChristian2 see the problem is that thats an arbitrary definition you chose to accept. I can just as easily say athesim is just not accepting a ridicilous claim with no evidence to support it.(i.e. religion and the theistic view of god) Thnaks for trolling

BestestMoron 1 year ago

"Faith and atheism are opposites."

@sav8or you are angry because someone uses their own YT channel to their own purposes.

there is the loosest thing of a community, but it isnt needed and there shouldnt be one. we already place ourselves in groups way too easily. is there a goal? why be one? because before solving a problem you first need to be aware of that problem. religion is a problem and people acting as atheists openly raise awareness to that. that is all the reason i need. do we even need the term? no. im much with sam harris here. but making people aware of the problem does make the difference.

Niocan 1 year ago
@Niocan WAIT... what happened to speaking in Ye Olde English? Don't stop! I really prefer it when Christians use words like "thee" and "thine" and other long-obsolete terms. It helps me keep their primitive beliefs in context.
sincristo 1 year ago
@sincristo Ego sum qui sum; I have a vocabulary that includes older words, what's your point? English is currently NewSpeak at this point, and if you compare it to many other languages you'll find it [english] has a very poor structure for defining emotions and Self-hood. Newer, isn't exactly better everytime...
Niocan 1 year ago
@Niocan Yes, indeed. In language, in art, "newer" does not even imply "better"
No twentieth century playwright even approaches Shakspeare; or Euripdes; let alone surpasses them.

@Niocan "I have a vocabulary that includes older words... Engilsh is NewSpeak bla bla bla compare it to bla bla poor structure blabbity bla pretentious drivel bla etc..."

sincristo 1 year ago
@sincristo
Actually I think you're on rather thin ice there.
There's nothing primitive about Elizibethan English (Spencer, Marlowe, Donne, Ben Jonson, *Shakspeare*...) and the King James Bible is one of the few rays of sparkle on the polished turd.
polymath7 1 year ago

D3lusionPr00F 1 year ago
Of course you need a community to collectively project your insecurities upon others ;) Woe is the atheist, whom rejects their true potential; I wonder when the 'major players' in this false rebellion will realize the nature of their position..
Let he who has ears that hear, listen up: Asymmetric warfare beats ritualistic mind-sets.
Know Thyself, friends.
Niocan 1 year ago
@Niocan What do you mean? It's really hard to tell, with your mixture of archaic grammar and diction and just plain bad grammar.
To start with, what insecurities do atheists "project" onto others?
airandfingers 1 year ago
@Niocan Try re-reading your post but substitute 'atheist' for 'deluded, superstitious spiritual coward'. You'll have taught yourself a great lesson.
hiflysi 1 year ago
@Niocan Accusing atheists of ritualistic mind-sets is rich.
Yes, Atheists sometimes meet in social groups, but that is true of pretty much every idea ever. And of all those ideas Atheism is one of the more difficult. The metaphor of "herding cats" is pretty accurate, because Atheists will often not agree on many things. Due to their broad definition (it doesn't take much to not believe in a god), they are necessarily extremely diverse.
Notice how this video consists mostly of questions.
Superphilipp 1 year ago
@Superphilipp That comment was made to describe TPTB and their modus operandi.
Also, a comment on your analogy, it's that fundamental point of an externalized common enemy that describes the easiest way to heard anything; I say this with some humility because each source of information these days has their own distortions to deal with.
Niocan 1 year ago
@Niocan I find your comments confusiong. I don't get the feeling that you are explicitly saying what you really mean. How is Atheism a "false rebellion"? What is the true "nature of their position"? Hoe are they related to "TPTB"?
You give me the impression of a conspiracy theorist who isn't quite ready to reveal the full measure of his unlikely world view for fear of being laughed off.
How about a straight-forward and honest statemant of fact? Or at least belief?
