Yes I have heard that also because truthfully people do not pay attention to black women at all and they think anything on our head is hair. We often think white people care about our hair and wraps. Hi,So far i've been getting the same reactions, but have been getting a lot of good vibez also with my hair wraped up in all kinds of ways.

At Summerjam in Keulen( reggae festival of tree days every yaer (this year 3-5 july '09) they sell a lot of fabrics and they love to show you how to do the wrap.

I've had an experience with going into an indian store (which I go to twice a month) to buy henna, and I keep my head covered all winter. The men just look but not really paying me that much attention, BUT the women, they stare at me to death (until I leave the store). I feel unwelcomed by the women, it's like they think I'm some kind of spy trying to steal their secrets to beauty or something. I guess don't want me to use henna or wear a wrap.
