The late great Ian Richardson is going to be a very hard act to follow. I think even the sainted Sir Alec Guiness would have trouble improving on. Just luvved the bit of business at 1:50 where he turns to whisper an aside to his audience. This is a CLASS perforformance!

PS --he was brill as Sherlock Holmes too!

Ian Richardson will be missed as a class actor, even though he is survived by his Son, Miles, who played Major Jardine in 'The Final Cut. There is absolutely no other who could portray FU, unless of course, you know different?

The scenes in the House of Commons--were they actually filmed there or is it a set?

I think it was filmed on a set because I think it is a convention that only elected members of Parliament can sit in the seats of the Commons, so actors would not be aloud to sit on the green benches.

If it was filmed on a set, then it sure looks real. Which is a testament to the high production standards they had for this series.

Yes it was a set at Granada Studios in Manchester. You could go in there as part of the studio tour. Essentially a perfect reproduction of the real chamber except that it is only 2/3rds the actual length.
