Many directors have stated they put props in a precarious position to unsettle the audience. ex. A glass of water perched on the edge of a counter in a suspenceful scene. Action scenes aren't known for being subtle. Also cakes on fire, corn kernels spilling? Not typical symbols known for triggering subcon responses. Unless the audience suffered a bakery induced trauma during childhood.
