Whoever deleted the comment claiming Pentium 4 (garbage, anyone with half a brain knows it) better than everything else (including core, which ITT blows the P4 away) thank you.
OMG Chris! You had me LOL'ing so bad when you were doing the "uusssb" and "parallel" dumb-ass impressions! hilarious. I think you could do a whole standup comedy routine on technology novices.
All my computers have parallel ports, but the only one I use is for the monitor. And also, I use the PS/2 port for my mouse! However, my printer and keyboard are USB! Hmm... I'm half way there!
:P Im still using a 2006 dell latitude d610 :D 1.7ghz pentium m and 2gig of ram and 60gig hdd, i actually game on it as well XD And im suing windows 2000 more over XP XD My touchpad is worn out my cd drive doesnt read well anymore and its CLOCKED UP 35,060 hours :D
My 3yr old Macbook's trackpad was acting up when I'd drag things, but going back to Leopard has taken care of that problem. I'm just waiting for an Asus ultrabook to hit the $5-600 price point.
I am 15, yet I own several computers that can run Windows 95. I keep them in good condition just for something such as a reminder of how quickly technology has evolved. It's older than I am.
My Gigabyte P35-DS4 Rev. 1.0 (+C2D E6750 +HD4870) mainboard does have a parallel and a RS-232 port. Overall my PCs performance is still decent enough for my needs.
All I will say to pc users is if you too cheap to get a Mac or you don't have a enough money, learn to wait or don't get a computer at all cheap pieces of shit are not worth time and effort
I have the following computer specifications: Windows Ultimate 7 x64 AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 3.4 @ 3.6 GHz Asus M4A89GTD Pro OCZ 8GB RAM 1333MHz Western Digital 1TB 7200 RPM HDD XFX AMD Radeon BlackEdition HD 6870 1GB Ultra X4 Modular Power Supply 750W AOC e2243Fw 21.5" Logitech G19 Keyboard Razer Mamba 2012 Ergonomic Elite Mouse Razer Goliath Control Mouse Pad Apevia X-Cruiser2 Mid-Tower And it's 11 months old...It's sooo old.. I need a new pc.. :(
You don't necessarily need a "new" computer. Windows 7 can run smoothly on something from 2002, you can even play HD video on something that old with a video card. I don't need a new computer, my computer is from 2007 and it plays 4K Youtube just fine.
@talldude123 If you're putting Windows 7 on a PC from 2002 it's like putting a new paint job on an old clunker lol. It may work, but it won't be all that brilliant and doesn't hide the fact bits are falling off lol. I know this because we have a PC from 2003 with Windows 7 in our house, and it works, but it's not all that brilliant. Still, runs better than Vista did on the same rig.
@talldude123 My dad has my old PC (two computers before this one) and it's a P4 2.80ghz designed for XP. A Dell Optiplex. I used to run the latest Ubuntu on it and it ran like a dream and was pretty speedy even connected to a 23" lcd monitor. Basically, if your comp is old and can't run games you may as well run Linux and get a little more fire outta it.
Though, I no longer live with my parents, there remains a computer stashed in what used to be my room. It's fully compatible with the Zip drive (and there are probably around 5 or so Zip disks to go with it...I think I'm about as old as Chris.
I still use the parallel port on several of my older computers for an external zip drive, since my oldest laptop has nothing but a floppy drive... Then again I'm a computer collecter, so it's not like they are my main machines or anything
@hjhazzer Actualy it's still inside the Pentium II which I boot up and muck around on once in a while. The HDD has XP Legacy on it. I still can surf the net on it.
I'm on the 478 as we speak and I could pull the p3 out of the closet, it still works. As far as parallel ports go they still include them on modern motherboards. I was looking at mirco ATX 1155 boards the other day on newegg and one caught my eye with it.
Computers are so cheap now that it's not even worth fixing them in case it gives you problems after a year of having them. Some people keep their computer for more than 3 years and that's something that I wouldn't do because technology is growing extremely fast.
HAHA, I've kept my Windows 95 CD-ROM just for the lolz! Actually, I'm surprised it wasn't on a floppy disk... LOL... I still do have some of those around somewhere though! Ah, those were the days - having to install one floppy disk at a time and waiting hours for one simple bit of software to load from them all.
@itsageoffrushthing Aye, those days sucked lol. Thankfully we've progressed! I remember when I could back up everything on my PC with a stack of floppy discs haha, then I moved to CD's, then to DVD's, now I have several 2TB hard drives haha. How things change.
@PoKerFaceN1 And what would be stopping u from doing that with ur PC? If u already have your heart set on a mac mini then get one. No use in pretending that ur open to other options.
@AdrianGordon1231 i hav had the old pcs before i dont know how the new ones are and i wanted to know if anyone has the mac mini or tried it would give me some advice to buy it or not .thats why .
i dunno, i still like parallel port. very useful for jtagging a router. but that's not to say having a dedicated older machine around isn't a good thing either.
Thanks for the question Chris. I just bought my new PC approx. 3 month ago and it's working fine. Before I purchased it I used a P3 compatible motherboard with an Intel Celeron processor running at 1300 MHz. I was good but I used it up. Only my low budget can tell why had I to stick with it this long (since 2004). But on the other hand I still own multiple computers running XP, and one Pentium 1 running Win98.
I read the terms and conditions.. It says you have to pay taxes for the "prize" you win. So you win a new laptop but you still have to pay.. Correct me if I'm wrong but if that's the case, I'm not for it... If I win, I want to WIN. Not win and have to pay for the item that I won..
My first hard drive on the first mac that i bought was 4GB. Original iMac. My families first however was a Macintosh Plus. NO HARD DRIVE build in. Had an external though. Don't know the size but was probably 20Mb which is what most others where at the time. This was not an Apple drive thought it was called Jasmine and my brother accidentally password protected it and locked every body out. He did not remember the pass word for the files on the drive. Retarded idiot!
My old laptop's fan was faulty. This meant I had to prop it up on either side with DVD's (the only time I use physical media, trololol) and constantly cool it down with a desktop fan. Also there was some catastrophic error with Windows 7, so the computer was only able to run off a 20GB Ubuntu partition that I added just as an experiment. Also the WiFi adapter didn't work and the battery lasted 20 minutes.
^^^ I put up with all of that for 6 months, but I then decided it was time to move on.
@sporkafife i almost got some problem with my windows laptop its over heated now can run heavy stuff on it , i have cooling underneath it . i need a desktop i think.
i have been thinking to buy a new Mac Mini is it worth it ? i either want a Mac mini or windows pc witch one shell i buy ? i have got a macbook air already and an old windows laptop i use to download crap . help plz thank u . ;)
@MXR789 yes a i5 2 gb ram tho i could hav 8 gb ram later if i need it . but with the price you could get twice faster with windows pc . i love mac tho got a macbook air it was my first mac .

If you use a mac that has a OS version less then 10, it's time to upgrade.
If the first thing you see when turning on your PC is "Starting Microsoft DOS", it's time to upgrade.
If your laptop has a full sized hard drive and floppy drive, it's time to upgrade.
If your laptop's screen is grayscale and fades out if viewed from a angle, it's time to upgrade.
I have my supply of them. :D

i have been thinking to buy a new Mac Mini is it worth it ? i either want a Mac mini or windows pc witch one shell i buy ? i have got a macbook air already and an old windows laptop i use to download crap . help plz thank u . ;)
PoKerFaceN1 2 months ago
@PoKerFaceN1 I would go with the mac mini because you can always dual boot windows (or linux). It also has a dual core i5/i7
