@juniortr2005 Unlike so many others, Ms. Ross took her addiction seriously and has been without a problem for a dozen years. That is something to admire, not denigrate. When the problem occurred, the husband she greatly loved had just died in a tragic accident. So, your comments seems really mean-spirited.
This is the song that summed me up as a teenager, falling so hard in love, but paralyzed by it as well, longing to say something, but far too timid. This song, by this singer, means a lot to me, to the point of tears. Thank you so much for it.
What a beautiful voice and a great , great job with this song. I have great memories associated with this album!! Sadly, things didn't turn out the way I had hoped and prayed they would, but I still have great memories associated with this album. And as everyone who knows me knows , I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ME SOME DIANA ROSS!!!
How very beautiful Diana looks in all those timeless photographs! And what a gorgeous vocal she did on this truly gorgeous song! Thanks for posting this!
I love this song. Another favorite DR performance is the song "Overjoyed," another Stevie Wonder composition. She nails the song so beautifully. It's on Youtube. Give it a listen.
this IS lovely...but i still think her very best rendition/performance of this track was in her 79/80 Vegas extravaganza...which i'm FIRMLY of the opinion that THAT was her 'finest hour'...EVER!!She was absolutely FLAWLESS the night they taped that show...best vocally, best show concept, best EVERYTHING as it go's!!!!She did this as her ('proper') opening number...faster tempo slightly and more...err...'dynamic'...AWESOME!!!!Check it and see what i mean...if you're interested of course!!XXXX!!Maz.
A friend of mine has mentioned from time to time that Diana should do an album of Stevie Wonder's songs. She has recorded several of his songs and is always a sublime affair. And considering their long standing friendship, maybe he could produce and write one or two new songs for her.
Her voice is angelic. She's just not a typical screamer. She had and still has that cross over voice that made her one of the most famous black female performers of all time. She sounds stunning on this as she did on hundreds and yes she looks amazing too... BTW this song was on her Live in Vegas HBO Special as well right after Ain't No Mountain High Enough...
Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & Stevie Wonder recorded "Pops, We Love You" together as the title track for the album of the same name, released in 1979, I think.
when they all did that 'reunion' show at the Apollo (which i was a 'V.I.P' at) there was a huge marquee set up next door to the Apollo and after the show had finished i was in Diane's Winnebago an persuaded her to come with me over to the party...which she did, just me an her, walked over and in...and on every seat there was a copy of that vinyl recording!!I still have mine...fact i seem ta remember gettin Diane ta sign it as well,LoL!!Man...have i got some memories (ALL goin in me book!!!!)XXXX!!
This song reminds me of a sad time in my life, my best friend was murdered RIP ANTHONY DAVIS. I miss you buddy. I love this song, sad memories for me but a good song.
Over the years there have been many critics of her vocal chops, and that can be debated all nite.. BUT I never understood those that have knocked her LOOKS! Her looks are stunning! you can't take your eyes off of her...
I've always contended that some of Diana's best work are on songs that very few have heard or heard of... This is a magnificent performance of a Stevie Wonder gem...
I cannot believe how beautiful this. You capture her more than anyone else know. Even professionals. You certainly know to use your God given talent and I look forward to many more to come. Richard Bassett
Oh i LOVE this track!!Up until now though,i've never heard a recorded version...and,from just 'playing' the track in me ed,i think this is slowed down considerably...but it retains it's 'beauty' with this 'close-up' inspection extremely well!!Her voice sounds pure and 'clean'...and she sings it with deceptive simplicity!!Man,i tells ya...she really IS the fukkin BOOM,she really is!!Again top 'marks' for the Stevie Wonder written trac!!A+
Her voice is gorgeous on this song.

No one sings Stevie Wonder better than Diana Ross. Listen to "Overjoyed" to hear another example.
