hey tornadotwins. i downloaded your samples and they dont work with my massive... could you help me out? i got to open sound and i click on one and it then says could not load...
THANK YOU! This is THE best tutorial on YouTube! You didn't just tell us what knobs to twist you broke it down into informative lessons. Going past how to achieve the sound, but rather what is the sound. Thanks for all you have taught me I know the depths of the program much better now.
If you really want to get the most out of these tutorials you should try applying the techniques you learn from these videos to your own songs rather than copying it step by step. Trust me, its better not being dependent.
i get what your saying. but, for me at least, I had a pretty good understanding on how to use ableton and was very familiar with the synth/vsti's already just from reading and using other tutorials. But it was very valuable for me to do this step by step. not because I want to copy this sound, but because it helped me to gain a better understanding on how to actually put all these parts together. now after completing these tutorials im better equipped to explore my own ideas and inspirations.
@jimithee212 Search Massive on your computer > open it up (not on Ableton Live)> File>Convert KSD Files> choose no> and open up Ableton Live to use it.

God, i skimmed over the whole series now just because i wanted to know what you are gonna do about that kickdrum. I have not downloaded the kick (i assume it was included in the samplefolder?) and looked at them with a specanalyser but that kick seems to reach quite low. I don't think you'll just slap on a highpass filter later which will probably make it sound quite thin, so what are you gonna do about it?
(ps: well impressed with Ableton by the way. I swapped to Cubase a few years ago because I was quite unhappy with Ableton 6 but it seems that it cought up a lot; how much is ableton nowadays?)
where's video 18! lol. the only files that will work in my Abelton are your drum samples.. the patches all tell me 'can't open file' the name shows up in the name slot of Massive. but nothing changes with the controls/interface.. I just did all your videos up to this one just using Massive's built in sounds. it's pretty close.. but I'm wondering why myself and a bunch of others get the 'can't open file' error for your patches? oh well.. Get on 18! took me 2 days.. prolly take u long 2 make
@unwantedpeople dude! I just randomly figured it out on my own! You can't just use the "File/Open Sound" menu in Massive.. I looked down the menu and found "Import KSD sound" !! After doing that initially then the "File/Open" should work as normal.. Get this info out! Vote this comment up! Great Success! LOL
Wait... so you aren't using FL Studio are you? Does this tutorial also go good with FL Studio? Cause the only thing I can do on there is make a wobble... not a good one either, but hey, at least I got that far, :P If these tuts are good for FL then I'll start back from the first video and make one :D
@Shadowsphere1 You can certainly follow this tutorial with FL studio. Only the interface is different, but all the instruments work in FL and FL has the same effects (reverb, compressor, etc). ^E
@Shadowsphere1 I use to use FL Studio but ableton is so much easier to use. Once you get your head around it the possibilities are near endless and so much easier to execute.
I cant tell you how helpful these are. You are an amazing teacher! I was going to see if I could email you an MP3 of my build-up so far? Made it in FL studio trying to use my own instruments.
