  • Jesus is my friend

  • Thank you from me and my neighbors that can sometimes be excused for not loving my rock'n'roll, but who couldn't love this beautiful and totally enrapturing performance. G.B. to all who find it easier to breath having heard this...and better times to those others of us who are still not at ease. There will be rock'n'roll probably, later:) <3

  • wow that was SO BEAUTIFUL :*) but wasn't there two verses?

  • If I am, conservative and I locate myself in the exigency of preferring the original composition, it would comment: " Bach this one furious!. But a reality is that already it is something of the modernity from not so past, not to be so conservative and to present to the audience of the current world contemporary harmony, for this way calling it with education, adapted to his tiny appreciative musical capacity. Being honest, they transmit feeling only one is agreeably.

  • A violista acha que ta tocando musica country

  • Absolutely horrible

  • Can someone explain why this is bad? I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that they changed the mood of the piece...

  • ¡Qué horror! ¡Qué forma de destrozar a Bach! A Bach no le hace falta almíbar

  • I understand what they are trying to do. I hope they are successful. I am tired of looking a grey-haired audiences.....

  • this is truly how to rape a beatiful piece of music.

  • this is awful, the violinist plays it like a fiddle tune!!! This piece can only be done the way JSB intended. Not some junked up american version.

  • Why did they sing the Sheets of the Violins? If the singers all would sing the lyrics, the piece would be a little bit better. I prefer a traditional Version.

  • Beauty is Beauty, in Music or Form!

Bach's music is for all those who appreciate beauty in all its forms and glory!

  • so badddddddddddd

  • @frauleinedie28 amen

  • Sweet and sickening. I hate to be vulgar but I might get through it if they removed their clothes. Rediculous trying to sell Bach with feminine charms.

  • Sorry but I think it's terrible. The voices are not good enough nor adapt to sing Bach. The arrangement is painful. Please let Bach alone and don't try to earn on him and meke it commercial thank you

  • I think this is a beautiful version of this piece one must be open to new things.

  • what a horrible horrible interpretation of a beautiful piece

  • @ArcticGuardiaN I completely agree! Horrible... They tried to make it even more beautiful but they just ruined it... Looks like Soap Opera Music! :/

  • @ArcticGuardiaN

I agree. My reason for disliking this is that the key changes are downright korny. What Bach wrote was a flowing accompaniment to a song a praise. This is not only korny, but sappy. For me, it betrays the beautiful intent of the original piece and is, frankly, musically embarassing.

  • @ArcticGuardiaN Yeah, it's pretty horrible, but at the same time very accessible to the pop-music masses. I don't have a problem with making Bach more accessible to the average Joe.

  • @ArcticGuardiaN Totally agree. It's horrible.

  • Que Fique para Sempre esse belo Cantico de Adoração

  • maravilloso maravilloso maravilloso...

  • lindo , lindo lindo

  • Marvellous .

  • ESTA MÚSICA ME LLEGA AL CORAZÓN. ENHORABUENA POR ESTE VIDEO, Montserrat

  • When I get to heaven, I cannot wait to thank Bach for composing this

piece - the best the history of music has ever had to offer. Of course

Bach would say that the only thing that makes this great is that it

exalts Jesus Christ. And I would have to agree with him on that one.

    Magnifique.

  • amazing .. i was soooooooooooooo touched .. >.<

  • Divino.....

Superbe!

  • This song is .......is.....is......SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pretty i fell like sunshine listoning to it

  • @star4burst341hayley God bless you, sweetheart, that's one of the most beautiful assessments I;ve ever heard of Bach's delightful music!

  • 2:45 is amazing when the two voices collide

  • nice voice.. I like it! I love the song..

  • This is what music is supposed to do; aim straight at the listener's heart, and this performance does exactly that. Absolutely spell-binding. 5 big stars.

  • i love it. :) Beautiful. i don't have any more word to say :)

  • Amazing violn girl you are Beautiful in many ways!

  • Beautiful melody from Bach's Cantata 147. However it must be noted that the simple melody itself was composed by Johan Schop with Bach adding the accompanying harmonies and instruments.

  • i love the lyrics....

  • whats the name of 3 singer?

  • Jesu, joy of man's desiring

    Holy wisdom, love most bright

Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring

    Soar to uncreated light

Word of God, our flesh that fashioned

With the fire of life impassioned

    Striving still to truth unknown

    Soaring, dying round Thy throne

  • Really great lyrics!

Nonetheless, I can't blame good old Santa that he only remembers that HowHowHowHowHow when he comes from the North Pole with his sleigh. No clue about Rudolf.

  • J.S. BACH is the FATHER

  • -10.. Is Bach no't pop!

  • always loved the Corrs... didn't know, they actually played classics though

  • These aren't the Corrs :S

  • PRECIOSA VERSION ,

  • it's o kay. Celebrate the melody and this great, German genius. The beauty given to the world by this man. Yes, a German gift, too. Celebrate.

  • People, people, please, let us take a step back and look at our trivial arguments. This language of music transcends all boundaries of race and nationanality, so why can we not take this piece for what it is? A beautiful, simply beautiful song...

  • chill out you europeans! music is music and we respect your claim to Bach! we do have you with McDonald's though i was in hamburg and the Micky D's sucked. but we not gonna hate on germans cause of it.

  • I appreciate the frustration that very few of you dare to reveal, but try and be content knowing that when yet another 300 years have gone by this performance and its participants shall be long forgotten while Bach is still played and studied as the one of the greatest--if not the greatest--composers to have ever lived. Wealth is a poor substitute for Immortality... God is just.

  • Yours is the attitude which will be forgotten as people come together.

Selfish prides, hostility to others enjoyment, and dark ignorance witll fade away to nothing.

  • You speak hypothetical time when Bach's music and men like him shall have become extinct. Men who were so precise in their work and tastes with adherence to rule. Beautiful things cannot be created casually. When those men and their work is gone then what shall those of inferior ability have to parody? How tall shall they stand when not on the shoulders or greater men? Your perfect world is an ugly place, void of light, and I hope to never see it.

  • everything, the heavens, that drenching downpour which makes us run to a warm place, the conversations with idiots, the thrill of an embrace; everything is made of the same stuff, it is in that where we find the eternal connection, not in the petty prides of men, especially of imagined men, imagined by pride so as to be magnificent to itself by division.

It is it's folly and becomes not of the garden but of ignorance, the darkness of not holding all precious.

    knowing is connecting.

  • I forgot that the internet was connected to Bazarro World. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, these ladies sing it with passion. BRAVO

  • What is this??? This is BWV 147 which has drowned is syrup.

  • Yes, but for the same reason the Mass is done in English, it's so the non- speakers can understand it, and understand the beauty and truth of the lyrics.

  • A real man doesn' t slap any woman in the face whether he believes she "deserves " it or not.

By the way, "desire" and "desiring" are two different feelings or aspirations, mind you --- if you happen to make the difference at all.

I take it you must be pretty vulgar, rude, and wonder if you are the right "man" (?) to pass any comment on any classical music, whether religious or not !!

  • Comment removed

  • OMG in English... but still good.

( I am neither Irish nor German. I happen to be French, and try to be fair, that' s all )

  • Thank you for your answer and comment which I truly understand. As far as Tradition is concerned, nobody can deny you the right to feel such an incredible genius must never be betrayed in any way. You may even think it is better to know Bach in His purest style than getting to know His Cantata through such a "slimy" rendering. Still I will argue that Celtic Woman might get some people to have an interest in Bach they would never have had otherwise....And this leaves Bach neat and pure for us !!

  • bravo!

  • Music is all about life. And life is about time. This arrangement is (though clearly different from the original) very nice. With small parts rewritten into a style that is more popular nowadays, the arranger has made a valuable version of this wonderful piece. Maybe it wouldn't have worked 100 years ago, but now it does.

This arrangement is like a salute to Bach.

  • Who doesn't love Bach? A great man and a great Lutheran.

  • M A R A V I L L O S O

  • jesus bleibet meine freude...

why in english -_- stupid american's idea.

    but cool song.

  • Thank your lucky stars that you have the unearned privilege of being able to scribble such trifles at Youtube...made you guess where.

  • You're welcome for saving from the Germans in WWII.

  • You poor thing. We'll let the poor in Calcutta and the refugees in Darfur know of your troubles, so they'll know how truly lucky they are.

  • This "performance" is a catastrophe.

They are destroying this masterpiece by Bach and smile while doing it. Like a bull in a china shop.

  • I don't know if there's a God, but if there is, J.S. Bach is certainly the joy of His desiring.

  • hehe very nice

  • That was good!

  • @sprygeoffreya17 'Ol Johann knew. Read about his church. Joh 14:6 Col 3:16

  • @sprygeoffreya17 I enjoyed reading your comment but can honestly & with authority tell you that there is the one true God, and his name is JESUS; God loves you and has a plan for your future (refer Holy Bible, turn to the book of the prophet Jeremiah, go to chapter 29 & look at verse 11). All the best to you friend!

  • If I could sing like that, I wouldnt be writing this......

  • This is the best.

  • i have no problem with this version. i think that the members of Celtic Women capture the beauty of this song perfectly. Their voices bring a purity to the music that is unique to them. I truly appreciate this version.....Brava Ladies!!!

  • 5 star. superb!!!!!

  • this is a great version... of course its not an original interpretation... but its great and the vocalists are wonderful!

  • You cannot do this man's music badly at all. Bach indeed left it open to interpretation. Ask Virgil Fox. Read "Conversations with Casals," when some purist tried to confront him on how he interpreted Bach.

  • Well said.

  • Jesus Christ

    The JOY of Mans Desire

    AMEN!!!

  • beautiful... JSB would smile I think.

  • II thnk he would too.

  • Who cares what you all say but this is one of the most wonderful sounding pieces. These ladies brought out the best of J.H. Bach compositions. Just my opinion.

  • I think these voices blend right into the music as if its one. It's like listening to a really good piano trill. Perfect melding of two.

    Great performance!

  • Simply Great! You can teach the heaven

  • 5 stars

  • The amount of control these ladies have with their voices just blows me away. This was nothing less than an amazing performance.

  • Simply Beautiful!!

you can call me silly... but, it almost made me cry.. it's so beautiful

  • wow ... that blew me away ... absolutely fantastic ... I love those girls ... Adorable :D

  • Hermosa la música y las músicas.

  • What is the orchestra's name?

    Very beautifull!!!

  • On the intro, is the main instrument a viola or a violin?

  • Chloë Agnew is a bit ... "heavy" ... to be diplomatic. Voice of an angel.

  • Trying to be diplomatic about you, I am going to say ... You are somewhat intellectually "challenged". I can care less about Chloe's weight (she already lost lots of it since this performance), but you? Well, still stuck on stupid, right?

  • Is that your definition of "diplomatic". I'm glad you don't follow Chloë Agnew's weight, even though you seem to know quite a bit about it.

  • Oh oracle2world. I just wanted to help you understand what "What goes around, comes around" mean. Evidently, you begin to "get it". Congrats! Now, after reading my response, go back and read YOUR orignal post about Chloe, and see why I said what I said it.

  • I said Chloë was heavy. That is a true statement of fact. You said I was intellectually challenged and stuck on stupid ... without any evidence or basis in fact.

And Chloë is a "public figure" about whom anyone can write just about anything. Unlike me, who is protected by the YouTube Terms of Service that discourage personal attacks.

So ... exactly what IS your interest in Chloë? Just a casual fan?

  • oracle2world: It seems that you are trying to desperatly paint yourself as a victom, yet YOU were the one with the sarcastic personal attack on the performer. Oh yeah, she cannot defend herself, so you felt safe to do it. Anyway, it is one thing when an adolesant with no life experience does it, It is other when an adult does it. Stop wrapping yourselve in "legalities". YOU started it, not me. I can nontinue the exchange of sarcasm, if you want, so ... let it go, because I AM better in this.

  • bozio and oracle are "heavis" as Beavis and Butthead ,

  • nowhereping: I know you'd love to join, but U can't.

  • I'm sure you meant to say 'couldn't care less' to say you 'can care less' does not make sense. Now who's stuck on stupid?

  • Yes, you are right about "could" vs "couldn't". But, how does it relate to "stuck on stupid" ? You must be one of the "geniuses" who voted for "the ONE", right?

  • violin

  • Why Not ?

  • Poor Johann Sebastian B. !

The days of Glen B. ( Goldberg ) Dinu L.(Jesus joy... ) and Ivo P. ( English Suites ) and Genious Trumpet Güttler and other Bach Heroes obviously are gone.

We haven´t only a financial crisis.

  • flot musik

  • i don't like the tranposition of the begining! I don't like sudden crashes in classical music , but the whole thing is very touching!

  • lovely, the best up to date version of this i've have ever heard,

  • Sorry... I like too much the original version, I can't appreciate these modern-taste remakes... That bass drum is really inappropriate... Again, sorry: I'm pretty dogmatic about Bach! :)

  • Hmm pitty they don't sing it in german.

  • nor does it sound very baroque either

  • Well, that 2 yes... although I think it's okay to take music and shape it into new styles. That enriches culture. The thing is that there is already so much sung in English, and well, Some tunes are just better when sung in german in my humble opinion. You would not want to sing a french chanson or a rousing soviet march song in English either hmm?

  • wow, this song... I'm speechless.

  • You mind my British English spelling -

I do not mind your taste.

    Go on enjoying this rendition.

  • Thats another violinist I'd like to fiddle with. YUMMY!!

  • I don't know what the fuck you people are talking about because this version of Bach's classic is fucking gorgeous!!!! I actually got goosebumps listening to this! I adore Bach and I adore celtic music (because I'm Welsh haha!) I think u put the two together and it's pure gold! Bach would love this!

  • You can't kill a good song? - Well, ...

  • spell it right at least

  • It's fantastic. I love you this song.

  • I think J.S. would love that!

  • That's pretty cool I reckon.

  • 96,000 hits and everyone rips it apart? I like it.

  • is this an american puppy-micky-mouse-classic-concert. this is pink sugar shit. poor bach, poor genius! this video is for old american ladies with no brain...

  • considering the ladies are from a group called "Celtic Women", your comment is very amusing.

  • Se olvidaron de incorporar a Julio Iglesias

  • raulosvaldo1: jajajajajajajajaaaaaaaa me l
