I know how you feel DCE. I had a "Laugher" in my college class and I'm surprised I went through the college year without shouting at the top of my lungs in anger or punching them square in the face!
This situation happened to me in a programming class. I had two classmates who were always flirting and giggling. That's why I brought headphones and an MP3 to every class.
I guess it would have to be when I was trying to finish homework in study hall. It's not that i didn't expect someone to goof off or to be quietly conversing with their buds outside of normal class time. I just didn't assume that this annoying, incompetent monkey would be cackling behind me. So I politely tapped him on his shoulder and asked him to tone it down for the other people working. All the sudden he stands up and calls me a slew of incorrigible insults. But he was later escorted out.
Oh God, these waist of Oxygen. I hate it when I'm on the bus trying to get from one place to another, when all I can hear are these bunch of chaves laughing their arses off at something that might not be that funny in the first bloody place. (then again any sound I hear on a bus annoys me...then again I just hate buses) I will admit, I have laughed my arse off at something I found funny but at least I do it in my own home where I can't annoy anyone.

If you ask him he will just continue to laugh or show or give you a stupid reason to why he's laughing. Sometimes it'll be a 'funny' picture in a science book involving mirrors. I honestly don't see how you can laugh at one of those wacky mirror pictures unless you're mentally a 5 year old when you're older than the age of 7 or 8.

I remember these people always used to make these owl sounds in class which was annoying because we had a shit teacher who wouldn't tell them to shut up until about 10 minutes later, and if someone else told them to shut up, the teacher would question what all the fuss is about.

When I know others are around and working I laugh quietly most the time people never even knew I laughed. Sometimes I laugh loudly but I instantly clap my mouth shut and try to make it look like I didn't do it. I do apologize if people look at me though.

The most annoying thing I find is probably when, as you said, you tell them--REASONABLY--to be quieter and they'll have a go at you for it. So I just leave them to it, and hope they shut up before I stab them.
