We all know this birthday will not be easy for her after celebrating so many years with her husband but God will be her comfort and strength. The timing of Nick's passing blew me away, as my iPod's Ashford & Simpson playlist was on for days leading up to 8/22/11. R.I.P.

I'm so shocked. I didn't know he had been sick. This is a huge emptiness in the industry. Not only a singer, but a serious songwriter. I can't begin to imagine what Valerie's going through. So sad. Great post.
Ashford and simpson were the best duo when came to songwriting,producing, etc. in the 1960s,1970s, and 1980s. Nick will be missed. R.I.P. To Valerie you have my deepest sympathy.
