For all of its criticism, to me there is just nothing more beautiful than a flawless shuttle launch. Sure some would say it's boring, but these are scientists, not cowboys. Doing everything by the books is what makes NASA as successful as it is. I'll miss the shuttle program when it's gone.
What has space travel REALLY given man here on earth? We could use those billions of dollars in better ways down here on earth with the time we have left.
do u really think that man, given the opportunity, would turn down the secrets of space and beyond? especially when we have the technology, intelligence and the will to do it? lol more in next reply
fuck no and personally i would hate to be called human if we didnt try. lol imagine if aliens looked down upon our planet and saw we that we absolutely had the power to it all but instead decided to spend our time and finance's on hopefully bettering our world. when all that would really happen is there would be more money for us to fight over. might as well spend it on discovery, and whose child is going to be bombed by us flying into space?
Maybe, but would politicians actually spend it "in better ways" if the space program was cancelled? I doubt it. Up in space there's limitless power (solar) and limitless resources (metals on Mercury and the 'roids etc).
@jonpaulmoen Search "Benefits of spaceflight" sometime and you'll see :) For every $1 pumped into our space program, we get $6 return on investment in the form of technological advancements in the fields of medicine, computer tech, etc. All worth it :)
I'm surprised that NASA don't have a presence on youtube to show off their brilliant footage. Perhaps they just leave it to people like us, who find it so spine-tingly that we just get on with posting it wherever we can :)
I'm intrigued by the star rating figures. I rather doubt that 38 shuttle entheusiasts have rated this as 'poor'
I never get tired of watching these.

I love the way the sound just stops the second they get into space. It's stunning

Kinda like past explorers could have been given the axe and that money used in a better way? Think about it.
GO ATLANTIS!!!!

Future generations will view this video as we look upon the crude still photos of the Wright bros.
They will marvel at our primitive fire powered space crafts, be intrigued by our limited knowledge of metals, fuels and, plastics.
Will space craft exist in ANY form at all ?
Will WE exist in 3006 ?
Will any of it matter ?

@John19182004 Instead of calling me ignorant, why don't you answer my original question? I'm all ears. Give me some examples. Thanks.

Tried to bring your rating up a bit...I missed the
NASA TV webcast of the launch...or I might have beat
you to it..lol. I am also surprised that NASA does
not have a YT presence; so let's keep giving them
exposure as best we can!
