She planned a "date" for them to go pick out floor tiles. When she did this, and the excitement she showed, he knew that she was reciprocating the feelings he had for her. He didn't want to cross Tony, so he just left. Got away before he did something drastic. He "attempted" to kill Tony once. Remember?
