@kashir1 ~This is the most important idea that people forget. I know, because I read it the morning of the Northridge earthquake, with the flashlight, behind the vehicle this bag was inside. This same bag..!!
@TheGoggles1 ~There was a part 2 to this video, yrs ago. This is an Urban 3-day Bag. Hide a vehicle key somewhere also. I have received emails about this bag being used and saving lives. I'm glad that I made it.
Great bag My bag would include a hammock 3 emergency blankets you can use the tape to make a cacoon to slide over your hammock and stay warm/dry. Sun/safety glasses, coins, beanie hat, something to wrap around neck, to maintain warmth, antacid you will worry, blistex, spf 80, some plackers dental floss, some sort of lightweight water filter and some bleach. I would have to have a 22lr and at least 20rounds. I have no bob I can barely walk I will live as long as possible with limited mobility. GV!TY
if you are in a city a small to medium size pry bar is a must you can wrap it in 550 cord and store a few small things under the cord (can opener ,matches ,small knife)
Good advice. The only thing I would add is a map of the city and compass. When the earthquake destroys roads and freeways, the route you normally take might not be feasible. If you are walking and it gets dark, navigation will be very difficult if the power is also out in the city. You might have a map in your car, but what if your car is inaccesible and you have to walk home.
@rudyfortner2007 Poor audio on this old video from 2009. The whistle has a compass and there was a map pulled out near the beginning. Spare ID, spare fuel in the vehicle, and vehicle key was in Part 2. Lost vid.
@amcanmike -Thanks Mike. If we were to include the first time this video was posted back in Feb-09, the view count is nearly 10,000 now. 7 minutes well spent.
The past big fire in San Diego had me really rethinking whats important and what really doesnt matter in my life. I was scarmbling around for nonsense pretty much. Good video. I was thinking it was going to be about hiking.
Great video Jeff, thanks for posting, the only thing I didn't see is a tin cup / spoon, (just my opinion, nice to have, you can boil water in the cup), I also have a couple of knives in mine, great survival tool and one to loan to someone else so they don't break mine. Thanks again, be safe, good luck!
Jeff, throw in a couple "Crazy Glue" containers in your medical kit as well as a needle and some thread.. You can use them to close a bad cut if you don't have anything else.
@ronpaulsupporter1 Yup, good one. I mentioned that in Bug Review Part 1. Also those sunglasses should be prescription, for those who wear eyeglasses. Sunblock was another item in the first aid kit and maybe a spare ID.
Whats good about this is most people could find all of these things in there house right now, and have this bag put together by tomorrow. The multi-tool is the only thing that someone might have to actually go out and get, but it most people get the idea.
Great video. As an EMT, CRT, and Army veteran I say well done. Very practical, and very easy.
Great basic BOB. If anyone follows your advice, they may actually save their life. Loved the idea of keeping hard copies of phone numbers & addresses, as well as extra "coin" money for things like pay phones. Good stuff!
Thanks, Jeff for a reminder on doing a bug out bag. I am going down to the basement now to work on one for the wife and kids, I am going to go down with the ship myself.
You should add a bottle of Fungicure its an Anti-fungal liquid. Socks tend to get moist and if your not going to be taking a shower daily the sweat on your feet will cause discomfort and fungi and this bottle of alcohol based fungi-cure kills the fungi instantly and it makes your feet feel great then you put on 2 pairs of socks and your feet wont sweat or have this problem for a couple days.

I would add more water to his preps. I recommend 80 gallons.
