@egghead62 middleweight? Chris Neil is 215 and a heavyweight, LoochBitch 230 lbs, his hunchback and nose alone weigh about 170, what part of math dont you understand? May i suggest tiddly winks for you to like as a new sport......
@kus99 You see how much play action incidental contact and intential checking contact there is in this sport. Eventually you get pissed off! That is what makes this sport GREAT! Drop the gloves!!!!
@moosildinho yea i dunno wen i played juniors we had to take out helmets and gloves off or keep them both on.. we did have cages but still most ppl took the helmets off
@kus99 it's how players police each others actions on the ice, and like the other guy said, cuts down on dirty stick play. Some guy on the other team is taking some liberties, hurt a player on your team, keeps taking cheap shots, guys just square up and settle it.
@Hendoooooo Um, fuckstick, 1st off you're replying to a 3 month old comment...so who is the retard? Secondly, the question about the song was not about the Beastie Boys playing in the backgrounbd on this video. It was about a DKM song they play at the Garden you half a fucking douche nozzle!
could you imagine Tiger Woods and Pedraig Harrington walking onto the green and then just chucking clubs on the ground and start knocking bails of shit outta eachother.. that would be quality!
I just love watching this sport, still find it fascinating that you're left alone to fight when both players are up for it, weirdest feature in a sport ever, they should allow it in all sports i say, if both players are game that is :)
So he told him not to fight Laraque this year or last year. He backed down from Laraque when he was on the Pens too. He's 0-2 against Laraque based on forfeits if it makes you feel any better.
Because they were already ahead enough that it wouldn't hurt them much. Either way, he never fights any real heavyweights except for Ivanins once. He's a fake NHL tough guy. Whether he is 20 or not, the kid shouldn't fight so much unless he wants to fight the big guys too. He fights too often with guys like Crombeen and Clarkson for you to use the excuse that its an unfair trade of talent. He never seemed to care with smaller less talented guys. Why not a bigger less talented guy? Fear!
It's funny that you pull the same argument about him only fighting smaller guys. 50% of the guys he has fought actually weigh more than him. You can't go by height because you'd have to call Boogaard a pussy because he's bigger than everyone he ever fought. Tarnasky, Ivanans, Spiller, Boulton, Komisarek-all these guys and many others have outweighed Lucic. Why don't you take a look at Cam Neely and Rick Tocchet's fight cards when they were 19 and 20. They fought MIDDLEWEIGHTS and kids their age.
Milan Lucic is a guy who never fights the toughest fighters in the league. What are you going on about? When he fights real fighters, the guys that most of the league fears, he will be a legit fighter. Has he fought Brashear, Laraque, Orr, Godard, or Boogaard? Nope. He fought the other Boogaard whose fighting credentials aren't the same as his tougher bigger brother Derek. So he is halfway there I guess. When I say heavyweight, I mean elite fighter. Does that clarify? Your list isn't impressive.
You're an idiot who doesn't understand hockey. Lucic is a 1ST LINE WINGER. He doesn't have to drop the gloves with every 4th line goon in the league to prove he's tough. Any 19 year old kid who drops the gloves with a 6'3 263lb man like Ivanans in his first regular season fight is afraid of nobody. If Lucic were a useless 4th line goon, then I'd agree he's have to fight anyone and everyone. As it stands, he scored more goals as a 20 year old than Laraque ever did any year in his useless career!
Watch the video of Lucic when Larque was on the Pens. He was not up for fighting, as he was skating away while Laraque was practically saying drop em now. I have mentioned Ivanins on here previously, but that is his only claim to fame. I was happy to see Lucic take it to that dirt bag Jarko Ruutu though. I hope he does it again soon. BTW, this discussion is about fighting not goal scoring. Lets keep it that way. When you are watching a Lucic goal scoring video, your comments will be valid.
Um, dipshit the Bruins were up 4-0 in the game against Pittsburgh and there was no need to fight. There are 3 reasons to fight in the NHL. Protect yourself from a cheap hit, protect a teammate after a cheap hit, and to change the momentum. Why would the Bruins want to change the momentum of a game they were winning 4-0? Lucic was also wearing a shield against the Pens because of a broken nose. Watch the video again and notice the visor that he usually doesn't wear.
Lets keep the name calling out of this please. The shield is an excellent point. An elitist is a person who is regularly in the practice of being superior. It is in the dictionary and it is not incorrect to use it the way I did. Please do not try to be an English teacher on here if you aren't qualified to do so. If you are, you should try a new profession. I think we will both just have to agree to disagree. This debate has been a circle thus far. See you at the Winter Classic BoSox.
Well if you don't understand that Lucic had a broken nose and was wearing a shield, and in a game against florida in a fight with Nick Boynton, he lacerated his hand and Boston played Montreal the following night where Lucic opted not to go and scored the tying goal instead, then you can't really comment on why he didn't fight. Perhaps if you want, you can look up Boston's schedule on google to confirm that Lucic hurt his hand the night before playing the Habs. Then you can comment intelligently
Are you still here? Go somewhere else. Your just being a pest now. Remember, its you tube, nothing you say here really matters. Go find someone else to insult. Better yet, stop wasting our time. This is an intelligent comment. GO FIND ANOTHER VIDEO TO COMMENT ON, OR BUG SOMEONE ELSE.
If you consider it a waste of time, why do you feel the need to reply? LMAO Perhaps it's that severe case of penis envy that compells you to get the last word in? You just can't seem to walk away. Does the "D" in HeavyD stand for Douche? LMAO
Maybe Lucic doesn't want the back of his head bruised for the rest of the season. That seems to be the only place George likes to punch someone. You can bash Lucic all you want, he's a first line winger first and foremost, and he mixes it up quite often for someone in his position. Neely and Shanahan both proved that you don't have to fight everyone to be a tough guy.
Shannahan was never a tough guy. Mike Mike Richards will drop the gloves with people too, but an NHL tough guy is someone who battles with the best. Laraque beat the piss out of most of the NHL's enforcers at one time or another. I've notice him not try very hard against guys like Peters or Cote the second time when he knows he is way better. Watch him fight Brashear or Colton Orr. He hits them square in the face. Lucic didn't want it last year, and he doesn't want it this year either.
Lucic scored more goals this year than Laraque did in any year of his career. What you can't seem to grasp is that first line wingers like Lucic, Neely, Shanahan, and Wendel Clark didn't have to fight every fourth line goon that challenged them. I saw Clark skate away from Todd Ewen and Tony Twist on more than 1 occasion.
Laraque is useless. He's a waste of cap space because he doesn't have it in him to start a fight. If you're a goon, you cant ask politely! Just drop them and throw!
But he is the most feared fighter in this league, right? Yep. He is. That makes him a valuable asset to his team. He polices the ice, and Lucic doesn't want it. I'm happy you understand and agree. Lucic would skate away from him, first line winger or not. Laraque has that effect on people. Either way, Lucic is a scorer or skill player then, not a fighter. That's exactly what I'm saying. He is not this insanely tough legit fighter like some people on here claim him to be.
On top of that, the shitty rules of the "new" NHL do not allow you to drop the gloves and throw instantly unless the other guys does at about the same time. You have to be polite and follow this bullshit "code" people keep talking about. There was no code in old time hockey.
Yes, there WAS a code in old time hockey you fucking donkey. The only reason goons started making NHL rosters was because of expansion! Before expansion, guys like Rocket Richard and Gordie Howe had to fight for themselves. There was no room on rosters for idiots like Laraque who can't skate a regular shift.
Do yourself a favor and try watching some of the Broad Street Bullies videos from the 70's. If there was code, it was much different then. This new code is set by the worst penalty in hockey. THE INSTIGATOR.
The instigator rule have been around since the 1980's! It's certainly not new.
"That's my whole point. Not what he will do, rather what has he done?"
Why do you have a question mark at the end of a statement? Did you fail English 101?
He took on Raitis Ivanans and held his own against a 263lb monster who has beaten Laraque. He also pummeled Nick Tarnasky, who may not be a top 10 heavyweight, but is a very tough 225lb veteran. The fight wasn't even close.
I clearly am asking you a question good sir. What has he done? Can you answer it? Tarnasky is so-so, Ivanins is fairly decent. You have nothing top tier to mention yet.
Again you're an idiot. Is Laraque a better fighter? Sure, he's still top 3 in the game even though he's getting old. Nobody is afraid of Laraque. He is not a knockout fighter like Kocur was! He wrestles people down and gives them noogies to the back of the head. Hell, Shawn Thornton has beaten Laraque!
Lucic is a boxer and IS insanely tough. I'd rate him somewhere around 20-25 in the league as a 20 year old. Next year he may move up to top10-15. We shall see how much weight he adds.
Watch Laraque fight Brashear. He does not punch in the back of the head and hold back. When he is posed with a worthy opponent he throws straight punches with purpose of hurting his opponent, not to the back of the head. Your not very knowledgeable yourself. Once again your ignorance shows. You throw out a lot of what ifs. What has he done so far? Nothing that would claim him as an elitist NHL tough guy. That's my whole point. Not what he will do, rather what has he done?
I've seen him fight Brashear, and lose. He is very strong like Chara, and usually just wrestles people down using his huge weight advantage. You never see him Knock people out, or cut them badly the way that Kocur did or the way that Chara fucked up Koci last year.
As far as him being"an elitist NHL toughguy" (you meant elite by the way you illiterate retard)
He's somewhere between 20-25. What seperates Lucic from idiots like Laraque is he is a first line winger who can score and hit!
HAHAHAHA Chara dropped the gloves twice in one game with Laraque and pulled him down before punches were exchanged both times. As soon as Laraque began throwing Chara went for the take down. He wanted nothing to do with him. I would keep Chara out of it.
No, they each went for the takedown in 1 of the fights. Chara hasn't been beaten since 2002, and we all saw what he did to 6 foot 6 245lb David Koci. Chara is a beast, and his dad was an olympic wrestler. He also has a Norris Trophy. Laraque has lost to Shawn Thornton for Christ's sake!
isnt that what laraque does when he fought ivanans? it was a decent fight but laraque drags guys down when he gets hit a couple times cause hes not used to being punched..... so i dont know where your going with this. Ill help you all any team laraque plays for the fans try to defend him by asking why no one will fight him maybee you should be worried about why you payed 1.3 million for him to score 0 goals and possibly make at MOST 5 assists during the year... yea good pick up lucic=goals
Your comment would make sense if I was a Montreal fan. I'm a Flyers fan. Unless the Flyers pick him up, my team has nothing to do with him. I'm not saying Laraque hasn't pulled guys down when he was hit. I only stated that Chara did twice in fights with Laraque. You assume too much pal. Either way, he is in Montreal to protect a team who is still too soft to go anywhere in the playoffs. Its why my Flyers and the Bruins beat them so easily the last couple years. Those pussies need him.
Also, I wouldn't put Shannahan in the same category as Cam Neely. Neely was much tougher in my opinion. I liked him a lot. Neely fought real heavyweights at times; whereas, its was rare to see Shannahan do that. Though it did happen. Shannanan is a great hard nosed player. Two players I really admire. I agree with you more on Neely.
I agree about Neely, kind of hard not to love a guy who takes a slapshot to the head, get's stitched up, and then comes back out and beats the shit out of Shane Corson and opens the stitches. Personally, I don't think the average NHL'er right now is as tough as the players of 20 years ago and earlier.
But back to the point of this post, I hate it when people are bashing a real player for not fighting everyone. No different than calling a 100 meter sprinter a bitch for losing a 2 mile race.
Lucic starting to remind folks of one of our Bruin hero's... Mr. Terry O'reilly? Boy can he throw both hand hard! Give Crombie a nod for taking his beating like a man. Bet ya Crombie gets out of the way of that truck that hit him in the future!!
because it's the nhl, a ref could try and jump in there while they shadowbox and suddenly he'll be clocked in the face. They'll only break up the fight if it goes to the ice, one player yells to the refs to end it like here, or if a player is seriously in danger of getting really hurt.
i find it funny when habs fans are only looking forward to that inevitable fight between lucic and laraque because they should be paying attention to the standings as the bruins pull away. but ya keep hoping for that showdown while you lose
The Canadian fans are to overjoyed with themselves in booing the American national anthem before games than looking at the standings. Hey Canadan fans- You Suck!

Bet ya Crombie gets out of the way of that truck that hit him in the future!!

why r they just standing there why not break them up?
FabulousFabu 3 years ago
because it's the nhl, a ref could try and jump in there while they shadowbox and suddenly he'll be clocked in the face. They'll only break up the fight if it goes to the ice, one player yells to the refs to end it like here, or if a player is seriously in danger of getting really hurt.
AGP12345 3 years ago 2
because its hockey, unlike any other sports they let you fight, which is the way it should be

Hey, same thing here, wing fan...I'm a Habs fan, but dammit, Lucic is my favorite player!
asphalt7865 3 years ago 4
habs fans like you are the one's that i respect, the one's that don't call lucic a pussy for following orders to not fight laraque.
AGP12345 3 years ago 2
i find it funny when habs fans are only looking forward to that inevitable fight between lucic and laraque because they should be paying attention to the standings as the bruins pull away. but ya keep hoping for that showdown while you lose
cgatz88 3 years ago 2
but hats off to asphalt for rooting for the game and their team rather than a meaningless fight
cgatz88 3 years ago
The Canadian fans are to overjoyed with themselves in booing the American national anthem before games than looking at the standings. Hey Canadan fans- You Suck!
5inthehole 3 years ago 2
You can't even blame Crombeem for calling out of the fight to the refs at the end there...
